3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, shared by Rune. An unclear brown beer topped by a small, beige head. Roasted aroma with coffee and some brown sugar. A bit sweet on the palate, with coffee flavor and a pleasant bitterness. Roasted malts too. Mostly roasted finish, with sweetness at too high levels. A decent one, nothing more. 140214

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Opaque reddish brown body. Low beige head, quickly fading to ring of bubbles. Fresh-smelling. Apple fruitiness, rounded gently roasted dark malts, and som fine toffee tones. Light to medium full, slick on the palate. Fresh-tasting, as well. Fully balanced flavors of gently roasted caramel malts, an inviting fruitiness, and just the right amount of bittering hops. A moreish and well crafted Brown Ale.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
But Margit & Aasmund, I did what you asked, I let the bottle stand for several days, and this you pay me back? With a totally opaque, incredibly dirty-looking, dark brown body? Luckily the head is magnificent: it’s large, has a light brown colour and is very long-lived. Lots of lacings are left on the glass, and the head never gets smaller than a .5 cm layer. The aroma isn’t very strong, and it’s a bit dirty and homebrew-ish. Lightly roasted notes, mild coffee, yeast and hints of smoke and ash. There are also some pleasant hoppy notes in the back. The taste is light sweet, there is a very light sourness present and the finish is moderate bitter. The bitterness has a certain metallic touch that I don’t find that pleasant. Moderate flavours of ash, coffee, hoppy hints and alcohol(!). Quite dry, moderate carbonation. Not too bad, but too dirty. If I want a not-ready-for-sale homebrew I’m not paying for it.

Dark brown with a nice head. Smells really good. Taste follows the smell and tops off with a nice hoppy tone. I often get dissapointed with brown ales but this one impress me.

Bottle kindly provided by Kåre, who bought this one in Skien. Batch # 14. Pours very dark brown with a big creamy tanned head. Aroma of nutty malts, liquorice and fruity hops. Taste is light sweet, roasted caramel, smooth & creamy mouthfeel, very nice fruity and herbal hops towards the finish, very good beer, with a delicate mouthfeel, very moreish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Matkroken Natland, Bergen. Pours a dense nougat brown body with a medium creamy light beige head. Nose is hazelnuts, grains, nougat, brown malts and hints of straw and faint diacetyl. Taste is sweet grainy tones, brown malts, bread and hints of hazelnuts and biscuits. Bitter finish with some herbal touches. Medium body and carbonation. Very tasty and pleasant brown ale; perhaps the best of its kind in the grocery segment in Norway right now.
