COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

As Fjordens IPA. Clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma is malty, caramel and acidic. Flavor is medium sweet, light bitter and rather sour. IPAs are supposed to be bitter not sour and acidic. Badly infected. I’ve had two beers from Fjordens and both have been infected. I’m honestly thinking about trying the rest of their range just to see, if they are capable of brewing a clean beer. 180811

As "Kong Maw". Hazy brown color, small off-white head. Barnyard, some grassy hops, sourness, berries. Light to medium bodied. Quite sour flavor. Some hops, pale maltyness. This is a sour ale, not an IPA :)

Bottle, bought @ Kolding Vinhandel. Pours a muddy orange amber with a small creamy (almost) film head. Aroma has a lot of grain and a little ’wet dog’ to it, some rye bread in there as well. Flavour is very weird - perhaps not intentional - slightly sour at first, then a little caramel, then a good hoppy bitterness, but it finishes with a heavy dose of dry card-board yeastyness. Well... it’s drinkable, but nothing more - I ain’t drinking 50cl of it now...

[ As Fjordens Kong Maw ].
Clear medium orange amber color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, chlorine, rubber. Flavor is moderate sweet, moderate acidic and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, chlorine, cleaning agent. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. IMO not a IPA just a bad beer ! [20100330]
Earlier Rating: 10/5/2007 Total Score: 2
Bottle. Hazy medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate hoppy, pine, grapefruit, orange, light yeasty, yeast. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. It is quite out of balance, it is like the bitter and sour stands alone. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. (110907)
