3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 PaulW (46) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - FEB 10, 2012
This beer has improved since I first tasted it, when it came out. Nice deep off white head over a dark copper beer. Aroma is malty sweet, something carried through into the taste...actually the maltiness is accentuated in the taste. Lightly but pleasantly hopped, it drinks like a bitter from home. Not too strong and more palatable than it used to be.....starting to drink like a decent British bitter
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 will1 (140) - Hampshire, ENGLAND - JAN 9, 2012
I have tried this bottled and from the cask and review the bottled version here: Pours a clear copper with little head to speak of. The slightest carbonation means this is not too lively. Key aromas are malted barley, hay-like sweetness. A modest level of bitterness and little alcohol kick makes for a fairly delicate taste and the aftertaste is distinctly malty. I can’t help comparing this (quite favourably) to the Brakspear "double dropped" bitter, which I also enjoy. Overall a good bitter, especially taking the low alcohol content into account.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 jackl (737) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 11, 2011
Amber color, off-white head. Slightly citrus fruity nose, some grassy hop action. The taste is sweet with a dry bitter finish. The mouthfeel’s light and a bit watery. There’s a strange jammy tang to this bitter that I’m not feeling. A slightly less than average bitter.

Cask (GBBF2011)
Mashy fruity aroma. Massive bold fruity taste, some sour fruits in with the mashiness, and raw doughy breadiness. Big extremes - super fruity, but too grungy and sour too.
