CaptainCougar (4601), Rockville, Maryland, USA Nov 19, 2007 Bottle sampled on 9/15/07: Pours a still dark golden bronze with a thin ring of white head. Aroma of earthy caramely apples with a touch of tartness. Body starts with a good light sweetness and earthy, fresh tartness toward a thinner sweet-tart finish Nicely balanced, smooth and enjoyable. goldtwins (3672), Nesconset, New York, USA Oct 5, 2007 Poured a clear golden color. Nice leather funk aroma with sweet red apples. The flavor also had leather and red apple skins. Light to medium bodied. JoeMcPhee (3643), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Sep 20, 2007 Thanks to notalush for bringing this one out. Deep amber colour, sweet and very appley. Completely still. Fairly tart and has lots of tannic dryness. Fruity with a hint of brown sugar and soft spiciness. Lingering sweet vineous character. It could use a bit more acidity to brighten the nice aromatics on the palate. Still, a good cider. beastiefan2k (1065), Hicksville, New York, USA Sep 18, 2007 Notalush brought this to JoeMcPhee’s for CaptainCougar comes to NY. This was actually very nice, we so rarely get a break from the beer with a cider, I think it feel into the flow of the gathering very nicely, thanks Brandon. Pours a completely clear light copper color, A very thick, strong apple aroma mixed with some isopropyl alcohol. Sweet and syrupy. I like it, the alcohol balances the sweetness to make this not seem like a girlie drink. In the taste is sweet apples, some sour, wild characteristic, which is cool. Short aftertaste. Very nice sipping but not heavy cider. Recommended. notalush (1971), Rawn-kawn-kohma, New York, USA Sep 16, 2007 Pale, bronze apple color - barnyard funk aroma, with apple skin tannins - quite a wild, funky, flemish sour flavor, with high acidity, but some over-ripe apple sweetness balancing it - somewhat oily mouthfeel, with an almost apple brandy-like finish - very nice.
