Medium chocolate raisin sweet fruitiness and very light finishing bitterness with ligering fruity sweetness. Light body and low carbo. Very light and a little watery. If this is "full-bodied" then Miller Lite is an Imperial Pilsner. Anyhow, nice flavor. Probably a pretty authentic historic example. SuzyGreenberg (1324), Seattle, Washington, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 30, 2008 2008 Bottle - Pours fast with a tan head that appears out of no where, toffee and smoke on the nose, and has a heavy malt aroma, but not in taste. Kinda oily mouth presence, burnt wood and burnt hops, finishes with a wimper. This was pretty decent but isn’t memorable, I might drink again, maybe... SledgeJr (2960), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 30, 2008 At the Hy Vee CB Stout & Porter tasting. Dark sepia brown in color with a thin ecru-colored head. There’s alcohol and toffee to the aroma. Also strong burnt roastedness. Really good lacing. Astringent finish. Slight bit of heat. Strong nuttiness. Bitterness to the sides of the tongue with residual dryness at the end. A true porter. keith0718 (159), Olathe, Kansas, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 17, 2008 Pours a dark deep brown, clear with a thin cream to light tan head, thin. The nose is rather even and balanced. Light sweetness, dark chocolate, light licorice, very light floral hops. Some roast, very subtle. Lightly creamy. Thinner mouth, not quite watery, low carbonation. The flavors are in line with the nose. This is downright well balanced and enjoyable! Sweet enough to offset the acidity, largely coming from the roast, I think, though the roast isn’t too powerful until the finish, and even then it’s rather subdued for a stout (but stronger than a porter should be). Stronger caramel than chocolate. A bit of strawberry to apple, but not at all in the way of a Belgian. A little licorice. Acidic lightly roasty finish. Very balanced, not a bad beer at all. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 27, 2008 12 oz bottle thanks to Suttree. Roasted malt aromas off this brown pour with smallish off-white head. Aromas were said roasted malts and touches of plum or passionfruits. Flavors were nice chocolate and touches of burnt malt. But not overly burnt as to make it too bitter. Some fruitiness came through, but not excessively. Pretty good.
