tomhenderson (126), Carolinas area, USA Oct 21, 2005 11.2 oz bottle. Poured clear dark mahogany with a thin lace that dissipated while drinking. Aroma is sweet and of roasted malt; very pleasant. Taste is similar, with additional caramel and chocolate. I agree with other comments that it’s a bit thin. That’s too bad since it’s otherwise a very good porter. Note to Elgood: Use less water! kgustaf (17), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA Oct 14, 2005 Starts sweet, ends sour and smoky, caramel after, burnt caramel flavor dominates my palate brainlair (9), Maryland, USA does not count Oct 14, 2005 Pours dark brown, but not very opaque. Strong malty scotch aroma, with thin body. Weak hints of coffee in the aftertaste. ryan (1774), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Oct 14, 2005 Updated: Nov 3, 2005Pours black with small diminishing head. Aroma is chocolate and scotch, very nice. Flavor is light, milk chocolate, some hops, fairly disappointing. Texture is watery. It started out so well. PeterLikesBeer (104), Berwyn Heights, Maryland, USA Oct 14, 2005 pours black with a nice tan head. Aroma is of alcohol at first but settles down into a nice chocolate and coffee aroma. There is also a hint of caramel. Taste is a little weak of coffee and some caramel. there is some tartness but not nearly enough. there is a sweet coffee aftertaste. not a bad brew but I excpected more from this. slang (392), Columbia, South Carolina, USA Oct 7, 2005 A very good porter! Very drinkable, maybe a bit thin even. Brown beer period. Good a little choc. and smokey too. Roasted linger. Fantomas23 (463), Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA Sep 19, 2005 Ebony all the way through with a tan head that doesn’t hang around past the first swig. Burnt marshmallow and coffee with a passing hint of licorice. More bitter than expected and a somewhat dry finish. The men drank well on that ship. BeerBlockaid (538), Jacksonville, Florida, USA Sep 9, 2005 Tasty little treat here. Lots of roasted malts and coffee with a toffy/chewy feel. Aroma is the same. Not that big of a head. Pretty ez on the way down. I would buy a 6 of it perhaps one day. For now...to many to try:)
