Fantastic aromas of milk chocolate and brandy. A bit stale tasting. Roasted malts, cola, Good mouthfeel for a porter, though slightly watery. Finishes slightly vinous with hints of smoke. Very quaffable. DewBrewer (265), Austin, Texas, USA Feb 16, 2005 12 oz. bottle. Finally out of the cellar & into a glass...nice head over a dark brown beer. Malty aroma with hints of chocolate and wood. The flavor is also quite chocolaty with a nice roastiness. It also has cherry, apricot, and strawberry flavors. Nice & creamy on the palate. Delicious beer. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA Feb 15, 2005 Dark Dark Brown with Light White Head. Rich Malt and Bread Dough Aroma. Light Coffee Notes. Watery Mouthfeel...Dry with Some Carbonation...Week Malt Taste..Overall The Aroma Was Much Better Then the Taste. tsarman (794), Northern, New Jersey, USA Feb 3, 2005 Very good porter that actually has different levels to enjoy. It seems that most porters come off as watery or too stouty. This one knows what it is trying to do and it succeeds. Opaque with absolutely no head. Sweetness and coffee bitterness. A very good example of the style and easy to drink in every way. A good intro to non Porter drinkers Tastes like an old style and its historical nature appeals to the history buff in me. Also enjoyed George Washingtons Porter. ChrisPants (317), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Feb 2, 2005 Deep dark-dark ruby, amber malts. Palate is clean....almost antiseptic. Kenya AA coffee bitterness is slight, hops are quiet. Mostly bland, with very minor alcohol notes if you look for them.
