Dark brown with almost no head, and surprisingly thin mouthfeel for a porter, without the oily silky smoothness I expected. Taste is more like a sour ale than a porter, with a hint of malt and a hint of sweet chocolate but no intensity or complexity. Wouldn’t buy it, and probably would not drink it again, but not unpleasant. There are just so many better porters available. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA

Fantastic aromas of milk chocolate and brandy. A bit stale tasting. Roasted malts, cola, Good mouthfeel for a porter, though slightly watery. Finishes slightly vinous with hints of smoke. Very quaffable. DewBrewer (268), Austin, Texas, USA

Malty aroma with hints of chocolate and wood. The flavor is also quite chocolaty with a nice roastiness. It also has cherry, apricot, and strawberry flavors. Nice & creamy on the palate. Delicious beer. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 3, 2005 Very good porter that actually has different levels to enjoy. It seems that most porters come off as watery or too stouty. This one knows what it is trying to do and it succeeds. Opaque with absolutely no head. Sweetness and coffee bitterness. A very good example of the style and easy to drink in every way. A good intro to non Porter drinkers Tastes like an old style and its historical nature appeals to the history buff in me. Also enjoyed George Washingtons Porter.
