blipp (561), Grand Island, New York, USA May 14, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is semi-sweet chocolate and a hint of bitter coffee. Body is a bit thin. Flavor is more smoked than the aroma with a bit of coffee. Not bad.
jjpm74 (2660), Connecticut, USA Jul 5, 2008 I’ve been wanting to try this beer for a while and finally stumbled across it at a grocery store in MA of all places. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Smells of chocolate, coffee, roasty, some peppery splashes. Tastes slightly bitter with some sweet milk chocolate and full bodied. The malt profile is a bit disappointing on this one. I was hoping for some lactic hints and some burnt molasses, neither of which are present in this beer. astrofrk (25), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jun 27, 2008 Flag Porter 1825
Black-Ruby. Nice head. Aroma: Chocolate, roasted malt. Flavor: Chocolate malt, roasted coffee. Coffee finish. Sweet. The Origional Porter! lithy (68), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jun 19, 2008 Nice black pour with a thin tan head. Roasty malt in the nose and a very tame (traditional) taste of roasted malt and hints of chocolate bitterness in the finish. carruthm (211), USA Jun 8, 2008 Dark color with smoke and malt aromas and a chocolate malt taste. Very good beer. Alldaydrinker (443), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA May 26, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours an opaque ruby hued dark brown color with a small head that dissipated quickly. Nose is dominant of cocoa powder and light roasted malt. Initial taste is very sweet almost too much before the cocoa powder begins domination just like the aroma. Mid palate display touches of roasted malt. Finishing sweet, cocoa and minor balancing hops. Body is light and thin. Head retention and Palate duration is average. A drinkable porter but nothing special.
