COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We interrupt the regularly scheduled 12 Beers of Christmas Tappings for the End of the World (We’re optimists – banking on these prophecies to be false). 12-21-12 is time to enjoy Farmageddon, the end-of-the-world, run-through-the-streets-naked, sell-all-your-worldly-possessions beer we brewed up and up and up until it nearly exploded all over the place. It’s a Black Rye Farmhouse Ale. Drink it on this day to celebrate what the Mayans clearly foretold – the end of something. Or the start of something else. Or nothing. We’ll have good time before the end of times.

Nice saison here. It is very grainy, notes of bread, caramel, cocoa, spice. Pleasant.

Sampledat 2013 ENBF. This one was odd. Or maybe I just don’t get what people are trying to do with black saisons. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but I keep wondering what they were shooting for. Anyhoo, Smells like coffee and funk, which I know sounds weird but I can’t think of any other way to describe it. Flavor is also a mix of coffee and funky farmhouse notes.

Draft. Cloudy brown body. Frothy, off-white head. Aroma of rye, grapefruit, chocolate and a hint of floral, soapy hops. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finished lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. All together, tasted like a black Belgian IPA with rye notes would taste.

Growler. Light chocolate and earthy rye malt aroma. Dark chestnut with small head. Chocolate and light rye malt flavor. Moderately herbal hops finish. Pretty subtle but nicely drinkable.
