COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mmmmm, Glazed Ham. It conjures up memories doesn’t it, or perhaps strange food fetishes? No matter, from this day forward it should conjure up a taste memory of one helluva seasonal robust porter from Flat12. Our Glazed Ham Porter balances the spices of a favorite holiday platter and the deep roasted malt of the finest porter. Next Christmas, volunteer to bring the Glazed Ham…in a glass, everyone will thank you for their favorite gift of the season.

Disappointed. Was anticipating better. Small foamy fine to medium dark brown quickly diminishing bubbles leaving behind an opaque black brown body with no visible carbonation. Off tasting palate that caught me by surprise. Tingly start to finish. Strong roast finish. Licorice aroma. Dark roasted malt flavor. Can I have my IPA now?

Pork products, yo. Thanks to StFun for the hookup - cut! that! meat! Gratuitous 18 reference aside, this was a solid as hell beer. Dark brown pour, moderately carbonated, and a nice smooth body. Nose was initially fairly generic spice, reminiscent of Anchor OSA. But as you get further into the beer, the solid, mildly roasty porter does benefit from the glazed notes and I found myself thinking less of Christmas ham and more of that top layer of ribs when they’re got a crisped up. Yummy stuff.

Bottle. Gentian root and light chocolate malt aroma. Black color with slight head. Bitter sweet gentian, mild smoked ham, and chocolate malt flavor. Nice body and blending. Unique.

On tap at Fiddler’s Hearth in South Bend over the Christmas holiday. Served in a pint glass. Reviewed from notes. Pours a very dark brown with a good light tan head and a good bit of lacing. The nose carries a beautiful combination of light smoke, cloves, and malty sweetness. Really fits the bill quite well. Flavor has clove and smoke plus a bit of chocolate and roast. Medium body with a semi-dry finish and a bit of sweetness. Really interesting and they absolutely nailed the concept.

Date: January 30, 2012 Mode: Draft Source: Tomlinson Tap Room Description: Brown pour with minimal head. Sugar and spice in the aroma. Taste started like a tradition porter, but then moves into a brown sugar and spice flavor. This is my second offering from Flat 12 and I like what they got going on even though my rating on this one is not incredibly high.

Love this stuff.. The more I drink, the more I want. I’ve never had a beer with such a dual personality. While your drinking it, it tastes like a nice normal porter. But as soon as you swallow, it’s like you just bit off a big chunk of ham skin... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap. Pours coffee brown with a creamy tan head. Meaty (sweaty) aroma with some spice. Nutmeg, clove, and brown sugar dominate with a smoky finish. Full and creamy palate. This is my first flat 12 and I must say that I’m impressed.

Growler thanks to StFun! Dark brown pour, decent lasting head and lacing and a strong peppery clove aroma. Flavor is a good strong roasted malt base, slightly creamy and very well spiced with more clove, some vanilla and finishes with some pleasant sweetness. Very good, I would definitely buy this if it was local.

[Growler] shared by DalzAle. Thanks Greg! Pours a clear, deep brown with a dissipating tan head. Aroma is prominent clove and a little nutmeg, a little brown sugar, light smoke, and a touch of sulfur. The flavor is a little smoky, bittersweet and dry, some spices - primarily clove and nutmeg, and a touch of chocolate. A fine spiced porter.

Draft sample. Poured a clear brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate toasted malt, spice and brown sugar aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted spicy caramel flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is the complex brew.
