The Half Cycle is so named due to its marriage of single and double IPA characteristics. In baseball parlance, a single and double is half of “the cycle”, and this IPA is a heavy hitter. It’s a single IPA, hopped like a double, with an over-the-top hop character that’s a bit spicy, citrusy, piney, you make the call. Light in color, but not on flavor, this big boy is dry hopped with a pound of high alpha American hops in every barrel. ABV: 6% IBU: 104.1

Very floral hop aroma with caramel smell bursting through. Taste is pine needles initially followed by bitter grapefruit. Some faint straw and rose water.

Pours a golden copper. Light notes of grapefruit in the aroma. The taste has a super bitter finish, and a strange metallic aftertaste. Quite possibly the worst IPA ever.

APPEARANCE - pours a light coppery goodness, with a stark white head that sticks around through the full drink. NOSE - get the scent of very earthy hops - perhaps grassy. FLAVOR - somewhat floral, somewhat earthy hop flavor. Really excellent blend. Pairs well with spicy southwestern style foods.

355 ml bottle. Thanks rosenbergh. Pours a golden colour with a white head. Aroma of gooseberries, floral notes and some yeastiness. Flavour of gooseberries, really heavy bitterness, citrus and herbs. Medium bodied. Harsh, lingering bitter finish. Not fresh, but very bitter. A bit unrefined.

355 ml bottle.
Pours hazy golden color with a large head. Lots of gooseberry bush on the aroma, faint cardboard notes and grapefruits, some hops are there though. Gooseberries and grapefruits on the flavor, way too much carbonation ..and cardboard..nation. Old, sadly.

Pours red with a lot of head. High carbonation with bitter after taste. Not a great hop flavor.

Opened the bottle and the majority of beer immediately turned into foam, poured it into 3 glasses to get it out of the bottle. About 15 minutes later it was starting to settle and I scooped out some of the foam so I could finally taste it. Well it was not worth the wait and mess, had a little citrus taste with mild hoppiness and was very over carbonated. It was like drinking a hoppy sprite.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2016 Light golden color. Nice head that holds and lacing. Plenty of hops though a bit too much carbonation on tap at the Louisville marriott On tap at brewery. Really crisp bitter hops. Goes well with the Phillips sub

Really overcarbonated. Tried to pour into glass and got nothing but foam. Tried to drink from bottle and the contents erupted into foam. Bad. Bottle has 1121 printed on it.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. The Half Cycle IPA pours a mostly cloudy yellowish orange with a thin ivory head that doesn’t last too long. The aroma is loaded with hops! I can pick up citrus, favoring the orange, pine, a healthy dosage of caramel and even a bit of honey. The flavor is caramel up front, but that is quickly dominated by the citrus and pine hops, orange and bread. Overall this is a pretty nice beer.
