The Half Cycle is so named due to its marriage of single and double IPA characteristics. In baseball parlance, a single and double is half of “the cycle”, and this IPA is a heavy hitter. It’s a single IPA, hopped like a double, with an over-the-top hop character that’s a bit spicy, citrusy, piney, you make the call. Light in color, but not on flavor, this big boy is dry hopped with a pound of high alpha American hops in every barrel. ABV: 6% IBU: 104.1

Aroma: More herbaceous than citrusy; caramel tends toward toffee. Appearance: Light copper with a foamy white head that settled into a bubbly skin. Flavor: Urine up front; a little more malt sweetness after; lingering catty bitterness. Palate: Medium body, slick texture, very soft carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: Just alright for me.

Draft at Dutch’s. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have dank resiny hops, some citrus, a touch of spicy hops, moderate caramel malts, dry hop noticeable, moderate bitterness with good mouthfeel.

12oz brown bottle into a Spieglau IPA glass, thanks David Pole. It poured a hazy light amber with thick white foam, long-lasting with nice lace. Strong hoppy aromas: flowers, honey, caramel, cedar, grapefruit, black currant, cantalope melon. Flavour was nowhere near as good. Overwhelmingly bitter, coarse weediness almost to the point of harsh, not astrigent but getting there. Not enough malt complexity to break through. Light-medium body, strong carbonation, fairly well-concealed alcohol. This seems like the trendy type of bitter IPA from 10 years ago, but I prefer the modern emphasis on flavour and aroma.

Pours a hazy orange yellow with a one finger white head. Aroma is sweet with a nice hoppy, grassy aroma on the nose. Taste is instant bitterness with a really bitter finish. To me, the hops are overpowering what could be a flavorful beer.

12oz. Cloudy orange pour with white ring. Overly bitter hops. Not really my favorite style of IPA.

Yeasty bready aroma with some cinnamon, herbs, and a touch of George Clinton. Starts out biscuity and then slams you with hoppy goodness......light to medium on the tongue with a dry finish. Loads of homebrew character......I will find this again!

16oz draft. This is a weak beer. Deep golden pour, very thin white head, only lasts around rim. Nose is all fresh peeled orange/lime. Flavors of fresh citrus, pine, and medium hops. Very light mouth feel, way too watery. Pass.

Pint can. Pours yellowish amber. Aroma is big citrus peel, spicy yeast with an almost Belgian character, stone fruit, spicy and grassy hops, slight homebrew funk. Taste is oranges and spice, sweet malts, pine, lingering hop bitterness. Too malty for me but fans of hoppy ambers will like this.

Bottle courtesy of bmoosey - pours dirty brown with a small head. I could tell pretty quick that it was going to have an earthy hop aroma and taste. Has a biscuit and nut taste to it. Medium slick mouthfeel. Not too dry.
