COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Half Cycle is so named due to its marriage of single and double IPA characteristics. In baseball parlance, a single and double is half of “the cycle”, and this IPA is a heavy hitter. It’s a single IPA, hopped like a double, with an over-the-top hop character that’s a bit spicy, citrusy, piney, you make the call. Light in color, but not on flavor, this big boy is dry hopped with a pound of high alpha American hops in every barrel. ABV: 6% IBU: 104.1

Bottle courtesy of Pedro. Pours a hazy gold with thick, fluffy, white head – gusher – and seafoam lacing. Aroma of grain, light citrus and pine. Medium to light body, medium bitterness, dry finish. Some hop flavor – citrus and pine but probably a little stale

355mL thanks to tastybeer! Clear lighter orange with excellent white lacing. Nose is pretty fresh tangerine, perfume, clementine. Taste is soapy, dry, harsh bitterness, but still drinkable. Palate is sharp, nutty, Brazil nut, nut shells.

Good and hoppy with a nice aroma but not my favorite IPA. Definitely drinkable in a pinch.

Medium-dark amber color. Aroma is sort-of hops and sort-of skunked. Weird. Taste is weird too. It’s intensely bitter with a mix of pine and grapefruit hops and a little bit of malt. I’m thinking this is a beer that would need to grow on you, because, frankly, the bitter taste isn’t 100% pleasant. Again, this is kind of a weird beer. I’m surprised at the 92 rating - maybe my batch is a bit off?

Bottle. Pours clear copper with a small white head. The aroma is pretty floral with a light mango and orange note. The taste has a big orange and grapefruit kick followed by a dry, bitterness. Nice brew.

On tap. Pours a hazy copper with light head. Aromas of pine. Strong pine flavor overpower everything else. A bit of a funky toffee aftertaste.

Bottle... Mostly clear and deeply golden ale with a mid-sized, white head. Good retention. The faint aroma presents subtle notes of red grapefruit, pine resin and toasted malts. Medium-bodied with ample carbonation. The flavor offers heavily bitter grapefruit rind and traces of toasted malts and grains. Big on hop bitterness; small on hop flavor. Lengthy, bitter, acrid finish. Bottle courtesy of StFun!

Shag (2638) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - OCT 12, 2013
This poured an orange color with a beige head. Aroma is rather intense with lots of pine, perfume, orange peels, grapefruit, and herbal notes. The flavor is pretty darn bitter with more citrus showing up and a hint of caramel. The aftertaste is like chewing on a pine tree, sucking a lemon, and letting an asprin dissolve on your tongue. Holy crap. Overall not for the faint of heart or hop. Not one to hand to your buddy who likes Bud Light, unless you secretly hate him.
