COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Half Cycle is so named due to its marriage of single and double IPA characteristics. In baseball parlance, a single and double is half of “the cycle”, and this IPA is a heavy hitter. It’s a single IPA, hopped like a double, with an over-the-top hop character that’s a bit spicy, citrusy, piney, you make the call. Light in color, but not on flavor, this big boy is dry hopped with a pound of high alpha American hops in every barrel. ABV: 6% IBU: 104.1

12oz bottle poured into glass. Citrusy notes with pine. Very subtle malt with heavy dry hopped characteristics. Clean finish. Overall a very nice beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy medium copper with a thin half finger white head which slowly fades to just a thin ring around the edge of the glass. Aroma of mango, pineapple, and tangerine is awesome. Some light pine underneath along with caramel malt but it is nearly all tropical fruit. The dry hopping really stands out in the nose and it is wonderful. The flavor provides a huge citrus punch that was alluded to in the aroma. There is a little more malt this time with biscuit and caramel along with a high bitterness that comes close to, but does not exceed, being too much. The hop flavor fades midway through but the malt and bitterness continues on for quite awhile. Overall, a really well-done beer from a brewery that I have never heard of and just appeared in my area. I’m looking forward to trying some of their other offerings.

Pours a hazy, orange-gold with a pillowy white head. Highly carbonated. Nose is abound with resin and floral notes, caramel and cereal. Flavor is strong on the pine. High alpha I’d say! Some orange, lemon pith, and mint muddled with low malt characteristics. However, there is a lingering combination of funky metal. Kinda like a bag of pennies was sprayed by a skunk. It gets worse as it warms. Finishes bittersweet. Not great.

12 oz. Lightly hazy orange-amber with a lasting film of bubbles. Aroma of juicy orange, honey, and spearmint tea. Taste is zesty orange and grapefruit drizzled with evergreen resin, pekoe tea and honey. Occasional note of toasted cereal. Long finish of bitter pith, earthy resin and mint. Light-medium body is tasty and way to the dry side, but flares up in the mouth with too much carbonation.

Bottle. Clear pale gold with small white head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma is caramel malt and pine. Taste is very bitter, mostly pine with a twang of bitter grapefruit. There is some malt sweetness, but the hops win out. The mouthfeel is crisp and a touch thin. Respites the bitterness, it went down fairly quickly. Not bad.

6 pack from Food City. Pours a crystalline copper with a very small head. This is a very bitter IPA with a strong hop presence, but it doesn’t have the deep bouquet that my most favorite IPA’s have. This is a straight up, sharp pine bomb with little citrus. The malts are pretty heavy and provide a stickiness and sweetness for balance. Finish has light notes of copper and a long lasting dry, herbal bite. Pretty good IPA.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of queenholly. Over carbonated bottle, had to pour slow and very little at a time. After the massive head shrank, the color displayed a hazy gold. Nose is both fruity and floral. For me the nose was the best facet. The malt plays a second fiddle to the hops. Bitter, REAL bitter grapefruit, light pine resin and also a herbal bite. This really could use some more malt to help with the balance. It’s a little too abrasive on the palate. Body is also on the thin side.

A - Pours a golden straw color with 1 finger of white head that dissipates pretty quick. Vertical streaks of lacing left on the glass. S - Dank concentrated herbal hops, some floral. Smells like cannabis. Not getting much else. T - Follows up the nose with crunchy herbal hops, dried pine needles, floral purfume, dry cereal malt barely shows up but doesn’t stand a chance against the hops. Finishes bitter and very dry. M - Slick and oily feel, medium carbonation that drops off. It’s good for 1 pint. The dry herbal hops just wreck your palate. Good if you’re in the mood for an herbal hop bomb.
