Very simlilar to their regular amber ale but it did have a definite woody note. The oak chips really make a big difference in their amber ale offerings.

tap at the brewery - Pours dark brown with a mild hop aroma and good lacing. The flavor is smoother than the regular amber with somewhat reduced hops bite. While balanced well, I’m wondering where the whiskey flavor is.

Sampled on tap at the brewery (Indianapolis, IN). An interesting concept. Pours a nice caramel hued color, some amber glow, darker and a bit deeper. A moderate frothy offwhit near tan head dies to a thicker ringed film, laces ok. Aromas are more significant than the base, some oaky tannins, vanilla, and touches of whiskey mix with caramel, toffee, and toast. Light florals, hops more deadened here. Initial is very similar to the base, caramel, toffee, biscuits mix into light florals an grass, the hops more deadened. Touches of wet oak tannins into the finish and just a gentl nudge from the whiskey influence. A touch hot, sweet overall with less hops to balance, but not cloying. The oak is very gentle, some might not get much.. Almost envelopes way after you even swallow with a touch of fuzziness. An interesting beer, maybe a touch of butterscotch in there gets a bit funny.
