Sampled on tap at the brewery (Indianapolis, IN). Pours a nice darker brown, some lighter edges, a good haze darkness, smaller frothy tan head dies to a ring and laces small. Aromas are some cold coffee, sweet toffee, brown malts, and some caramel. Initial is roasty coffee, moderate roast, earthy with some sweet toffee, biscuits, a touch of vanilla, light earthy malts, touch of tobbacco, no real bitterness, instead the flavorful roast coffee kinda helps balanace the finish. The coffee is adds a good element, making it vastly superior over the sweeter base. Coffee roast gives it a psuedo-balance, more complexity, and a roasty bitter finish that combats the sweet sticky malts. I’m a fan of this one, this and the Porter were the best beers of the day.

Draft. Poured a clear brown color with a large frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted nutty and coffee aroma. Medium to full body wioth a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Solid balanced toasted coffee sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good complex brew.

Dark brown pour, tan head. Aromas of coffee, coffee, and coffee. Taste is coffee bitter with some caramel sweetness. Little thin, light to medium body, and long coffee bitter finish. Overall, nice brew with some good flavor, but while good, nothing stands out. Flat 12 makes another good one, but I am waiting for a great one.

Pours dark brown with a small off white head. Aroma is all coffee. Taste is coffee and dark roasted malt. It’s ok but a bit one dimensional.

Brown pour. This beer didn’t really stand out to me. Had the regular brown ale malt and nut flavor but lacked anything to set it apart.

tap at the brewery - Pours dark brown with an aroma of caramel malt and a touch of coffee. This bubbly, medium bodied brew has good hops flavor, caramel malt, and obvious coffee. I’d score this one just a little better than the regular brown ale. Good beer.
