This is a wonderful porter. In my opinion, it’s about as good as a porter can be. The roast and chocolate is there, but overall it’s really drinkable. Stouts can get a little too rich and heavy, and this is so easy to put away and has such a great flavor. Textbook example here.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 BlackIPA (720) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAR 12, 2013
Pours a clear ambarrr with a cola like head that diminishes and fades pretty quickly. Nose of some pretty intense roast and some solid coffee beans. Pretty decent nose for a porter, actually. Taste is very coffee forward, with jus the right amount of roast and a dry, bitter finish. Wowza! This blew away my expectations. Pretty damn fine beer right here.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 TimsRatings (83) - - FEB 17, 2013
Nurse Nancy would be humbled by the head this thing gives.
Seriously - half inch of beer gave four inches of head. Beer was still sparkling.
Taste was not bad, but not worth the hurdles to reach.

Ar: Chocolate syrup, some herbal hops, blueberry.
Ap: Deep brown, opaque - small tan head with medium-poor retention.
T: Lots of cocoa up front, medium-sweet - herbal hops, medium bitterness - some berry, caramel, toffee - coffee and dark chocolate on the finish.
P: Medium-full body, creamy, a bit chewy - medium-high carbonation.
O: Delicious porter - great chocolate flavor, and the body and sweetness are spot on.

On tap at Flying Saucer in Nashville. I think this lives up to its mission. A nice roaster dark porter that is reasonable in alcohol and exceptionally easy to drink. Plenty of roast, and just enough chocolate. I certainly need to try it again and maybe make this a go-to porter in Nashville.

the roastiness is high on this one, lots of burnt toast and dry grains. finish is a little drier than id like. not bad. but ok.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 j_rogers007 (9) - Kokomo, Indiana, USA - JAN 12, 2013 does not count
A decent porter overall. The good is the aroma is spot on for a porter with a very roasted chocolate and coffee feel. The finish is slightly hoppy which I find appealing. The appearance is good for a porter (nice and dark with a tan head) The bad is that it has entirely too much carbonation for a porter. This beer could also stand to be a little more full bodied/creamier.

Thanks to spycow for sharing some of this one. Very dark. Nose and flavor have mild chocolate and some roast. No flaws, but not super interesting.

12 ounce bottle from a trade. Pours a.... OK now half the beer’s on the floor and I have a glass full of foam. The worst gusher I’ve seen in quite some time, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be good. Just ask De Dolle. I’m going to let this one sit for a while.
OK... just poured the rest of the bottle down the drain because I got sick of dealing with it. Got maybe about 4 ounces in the glass. Aroma of chocolate, mild herbal notes and an ashy note. The taste is chocolate, mild roast, and a mild hop finish. Medium bodied. Not a bad beer, not a good experience.
