3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The label says "robust dark ale" so I was not expecting the deep, dark, flat porter that landed in my glass. For a porter, it was just a tad "burnt" rather than " roasted" for my taste.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A very typical porter to me, other than being a bit "lighter" and drier than other porters I’ve tried (not a lot, since it’s not my favorite style). Pretty decent beer. I think this one finishes my tour of beers I brought back from Indy, and I was fairly impressed with Flat 12 and really, really like Sun King Osiris. 12 oz bottle from Crown Liquors downtown.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle... Pours clear and dark brown with a brief khaki head. The bouquet is chocolaty, nutty and grainy with a mysterious note of date, dark raisin or fig – can’t put my finger on it. Medium-bodied with a thin mouthfeel and modest carbonation. The flavor is roasty and well-hopped, leaning just a touch toward the carbonic and bitter side of balance. Finishes with cocoa and minerals. Bottle courtesy of StFun!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
FROM NOTES: July 20, ’12
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a tasting glass.
A: Roasted grain with hints of chocolate and cocoa.
A: Pours a deep dark brown with minimal light penetration around egdes of the glass and a one-finger, tan head that fades very quickly. Personally, I’d like to see a little better head retention. Excellent lacing, however.
T: Follows the nose very closely, but more more pronounced. Classic porter and freakin’ delicious.
P: Medium Bodied with good carbonation.
O: Overall this is exactly what a porter should be. Its not going to blow your mind but its a good porter! BTW, Pogue’s Run is the little creek behind the Flat 12 Brewery and the label art is a nod to the beautiful smile of Shane MacGowan (The Pogues)

12oz bottle. Mostly clear very dark brown, slightly red color. Thin tan head. Leaves decent ropes and dots of lace. Medium body. Very smooth, lighter carbonation. Very easy to swig. Good roast malt, and dark chocolate flavors. Hint of coffee. Good moderate bitter taste, bitter sweet. Very enjoyable, tasty, easy drinking and bold robust porter. One of the best I’ve had in a while. Was great to enjoy with my sandwich lunch.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle to taster. Looks good; cola with fluffy light beige head that quickly dissipates into lacing. Smells solid; dark malt, chocolate, and roast. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. A solid porter.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle courtesy of St Fun. Thanks. Pours an opaque black color with a small beige head that has decent retention. The aroma features well roasted barley, coffee and chocolate. The taste is more roasted barley, coffee, unsweetened baking chocolate and bitter walnuts. The palate was a bit uneven starting thin but then build into a pasty-sticky mouthfeel and the carbonation is soft. Finishes long and dry. Overall: decent porter, notable for the chocolates lack of sweetness-I liked that.
