COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Flat12 Porter is inspired by the robust porters favored by the Industrial-age working men of Europe. We chose to emphasize balance from a combination of dark grains including brown malt, which was the primary roasted grain of the time. This Flat12 creation is smooth and balanced with slight roast and chocolate notes, yet it’s not heavy, just like a good porter should be. ABV: 5.5% IBU: 34.1

Dark brown color with light tan fluffy head. Nice flavorful porter. Dark roasted malted flavor with some dark chocolate flavor with roasted back end. Solid.

Had on tap at Ralston's draft house. This is my favorite Indiana beer so far. A nice dark color with a thin light brown head. Coffee and dark chocolate flavor. Coffee bean aftertaste. Not too much alcohol, and a good balance for an after dinner drink. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

fleagle (16) - Valparaiso, Indiana, USA - APR 15, 2013
Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a shaker, black with a tan head. Taste is heavy on the coffee with some chocolate. Not at all sweet, thank God. Mouth feel is thinner than most porters. Well worth trying and well worth having again.

Bottle. 4/7/13. Pours opaque brown black with a massive bubbly light-brown head. Aroma is vanilla, chocolate, coffee, lightly fruity, toasty. Taste is coffee, chocolate, creamy, chalky, really pretty nice. Here’s the problem; the carbonation is obnoxious. Just too much. Highly drinkable; good flavor; but that carbonation hurts.

Black, tan head. Mild coffee aroma. Flavor is a lot of roasty, toasty goodness with a bit of coffee and dark chocolate. Slightly dry, woody finish. Simple and tasty.

12 ounce bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a quarter inch tan head that went away quickly. There’s a decent amount of lacing. The aroma is nice, it smells like roasted malt, chocolate, and a bit of coffee. The brew tastes like roasted/charred malt, bittersweet chocolate, coffee, nuts and some light hops. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s creamy and easy to drink with moderate carbonation. I think this is a good overall porter, I know I’d buy it again. Definitely worth trying!

12oz bottle via trade. Poured a thinner density super dark black with a large foamy light beige head. Aroma starts off with some big chocolate notes followed by light coffee and some sour milk, dark toast and roasted nut shells. Thinner body with soft carbonation, a creamy mouthfeel and a bitter finish. Flavor is much like the aroma where the initial sip had some big chocolate notes followed by lots of roastiness and burnt toast along with light coffee and some cream. Very good beer, would love to see an Imperial version with a pumped up palate.
