3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle and served in no-nik pint glass: Deep brown with reddish highlights topped by a a creamy beige head which left good lace upon the glassware. The aroma has notes of walnut, roast, slight char, earthy yeast, slight plum and a fair amount of chocolate and coffee. The taste is moderately sweet malts with some roast and dark fruits, very mild coffee-ish bitterness and almost no hop character. As it warms it gets a tad syrupy. Nicely twangy and nutty. Smooth and ashy mouth feel with a sticky edge. A pretty solid brew, robust yet not all that big.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampler at Flat 12. Darker brown, substantial head. Nose is some roasted coffee and quite a bit of earthiness. Taste is some sweet, more bitter. Not too heavy on the palate. A little too dirty tasting for me, and not like thereís something wrong, but just like the roast is too much I guess for the lighter body. Itís not bad, though.

On tap. Poured a very dark brown with a tight, fluffy head. Good lacing. Smelled overwhelmingly of chocolate with some roast. Flavor is chocolate and gingerbread. Very dry finish. A very good, well-rounded porter.

Draft. Deep brown body with a frothy tan head, mostly lasting. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, nuts, dark chocolate with a hint of caramel. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery turning smooth texture, moderate carbonation. Dry finish with a slight metallic taste. the dominant tastes are roast and coffee with undertones of chocolate. Nice.

From a pint glass at Snapís. Pours super dark brown and the medium tan head is small and fades to a thin film. Nose is toasted popcorns, sweet bread, heavy rich chocolate and light caramels. Flavor is sweet caramel, milk chocolate and sweet and bitter finish but not heavy sweet just easy drinking sweet. mouthfeel is smooth and full bodied for such a small beer.
