COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Flat12 Porter is inspired by the robust porters favored by the Industrial-age working men of Europe. We chose to emphasize balance from a combination of dark grains including brown malt, which was the primary roasted grain of the time. This Flat12 creation is smooth and balanced with slight roast and chocolate notes, yet it’s not heavy, just like a good porter should be. ABV: 5.5% IBU: 34.1

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a shaker, black with a tan head. Taste is heavy on the coffee with some chocolate. Not at all sweet, thank God. Mouth feel is thinner than most porters. Well worth trying and well worth having again.

12 oz. bottle split three way; from Liquor Barn (Middletown Commons). Aroma: Coffee with cream; rich chocolate presence. Pleasant and lighter than I remember. Appearance: Black pour with a sticky tan head that sticks around. Flavor: Coffee and cream up front with more chocolate towards the lingering finish, which dries out pretty well. Palate: Light body, slick texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: I could get into this; a lighter, but flavorful take on the style.

APPEARANCE ? appears black until held to the light, then very dark brown becomes apparent. NOSE ? the roastiness of the brew comes through in the first whiff. Very appetizing. FLAVOR ? as the beer warms, the roastiness of the porter comes through. Very deep flavors for a porter, yet there?s smooth finish to look forward to.

Black with a tall tan head. Lovely roasted malt and coffee notes up front followed by earth and a hint of fruit. Full flavored. Hearty and delicious porter.

Tailspin ale fest. Has a really intense coco nib flavor. Good but a little over powering.

So I was walking down the beer aisle at Kroger and saw this as a part of the BYO 6-packs. I reached out for it and five others. The mind wants what the mind wants. This habit of rating beers has got a hold on me. Coffee nose. It’s a porter, folks.

Pours a deep brown with a tan head. Aroma of light coffee and dark chocolate. Taste of smokey chocolate. Not bad but nothing special.

Bottle pour dark brown almost opaque with thick tan head. Nose milk chocolate, light roast, hint of dark fruit. Taste similar to the nose with more roasted bitterness. A little more coffee and roast in the flavor. Lighter roasted finish.
