Draft sample at brewpub. Poured dark brown hue with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted chocolate malt aroma. Medium to ful body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Flavor was moderate toasted sweet with an average toasted sweet finish of moderate duration. Good brew.

On tap at GTMW. Poured clear medium-deep brown with a dense beige head. The aroma picked up sweet, toasty chocolate and black malts with fresh earthy accents.. very nice. The flavor found a lot of roasted black malt with lesser chocolate at the core.. vanilla and spicy, lightly bitter earth accented.. mighty tasty! Light-medium bodied with a perfect porter feel on the palate.. great balance.. I could drink this all day.

12 ounce bottle from a trade. Pours a.... OK now half the beer’s on the floor and I have a glass full of foam. The worst gusher I’ve seen in quite some time, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be good. Just ask De Dolle. I’m going to let this one sit for a while.
OK... just poured the rest of the bottle down the drain because I got sick of dealing with it. Got maybe about 4 ounces in the glass. Aroma of chocolate, mild herbal notes and an ashy note. The taste is chocolate, mild roast, and a mild hop finish. Medium bodied. Not a bad beer, not a good experience.

Sample at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 08/09/2012. Dark brownish-pour with a thin light tan head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and mild hops. Light to medium body with a roasty character and notes of chocolate malt, coffee and hops. The finish is grainy malt and coffee. Above average overall.

UPDATED: JUL 26, 2012 Tap. Woody chocolate malt aroma. Dark brown color with nice tan head. Slightly sweet chocolate malt and lightly bitter ashy/herbal hops flavor. Very nice. (Now bottled - maintains its quality)

Bottle and served in no-nik pint glass: Deep brown with reddish highlights topped by a a creamy beige head which left good lace upon the glassware. The aroma has notes of walnut, roast, slight char, earthy yeast, slight plum and a fair amount of chocolate and coffee. The taste is moderately sweet malts with some roast and dark fruits, very mild coffee-ish bitterness and almost no hop character. As it warms it gets a tad syrupy. Nicely twangy and nutty. Smooth and ashy mouth feel with a sticky edge. A pretty solid brew, robust yet not all that big.

8/11/12. GTMW. Light black/dark brown pour with a nice brown head. Nice roast and light chocolate on the aroma with touches of cream and just a hint of fruitiness. Nice flavor as well, big chocolate and coffee with some cream. Not overwhelmingly heavy or cloying. Tasty!

Thanks to spycow for sharing some of this one. Very dark. Nose and flavor have mild chocolate and some roast. No flaws, but not super interesting.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized light brown colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a no visible carbonation dark ruby red brown colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The nice aroma was brown malt and chocolate. The overly carbonated mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a strong bubbly aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of chocolate and brown malt. I would like to try this one again with a properly carbonated sample. This one was just too overpoweringly carbonated to enjoy.

Draft at RapeBeer’s wedding. Pours a mostly opaque coffee brown with a huge tan head, but that was probably because of the tap issues they were having. Notes of coffee, dark and bittersweet chocolate, roasted malts, earth, and some milk sugar. Medium-bodied, with a roasty mouthfeel and some lingering rusty lactic notes. Carbonation is high but soft. Nice porter.
