3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
tap at Bakerís Street in Ft Wayne - Flat 12 makes an excellent porter. This version of Pogues Run is just as good. The thing is I had a hard time noticing the tangerines. Maybe my palate isnít so good but I just didnít detect much fruit here at all. Itís their usual very tasty porter.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft on tap at the brewery tasting room (Indianapolis, IN). Pours a richly deeper brownish black hue, good healthy haze and frothy tannish head atop dies to a thicker film, laces pretty well. Aromas are deeper cocoa elements, earthy brown malts. Carmelized, toast, and touches of sweetness mix with that firm cocoa element, some oranges and rind, with that Brown malt smell I love, a touch earthy and nutty with more restrained sweetness. Initial is really nice, firmly medium bodied with that telltale cocoa, roast, and gentle coffee mixing quickly with orange/tangerine citrus element. Rind, touches of orange chocolate (those wrapped wedge candy things from Britain I grew up with). Roast, touch of ashy richer roast into middle and backend with some distinct coriander showing up in there. A bit nutty, earthy, firmer toast, carmelized malts, and some sweeter caramel/toffee play that dances in and out with the cocoa. Iím already a big fan of Pogues, but this ups itís game a bit more. Really great tangerine treated porter with rich roast, dryness, and firm inviting cocoa element involved. Just like the base, very well done, balanced and a wonderful experience through and through. Nice, guys.

Flat 12 by far has the best porter Iíve tasted, and I love when they decide to switch up flavors within the porter.this is a fun porter especially for summertime

On tap. I like the base porter, but the tangerines do nothing for me. It just adds some slight fruitiness that could easily be accomplished by dry hopping. Itís not bad, again I like the base beer, but the tangerines detract from the final product.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft sample at brewpub. Poured dark brown hue with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted chocolate malt and citrus aroma. Medium to ful body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Flavor was moderate toasted citrus sweet with an average toasted sweet finish of moderate duration. Good brew.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Growler courtesy of stfun. Pours dark brown with a lingering tan head. Smells of a blend of rich, chocolatey malt with some tangerine notes battling to get through. Tastes of chocolate, peppery, some fresh tangerines, spicy with a roasty, rich finish. Interesting combination, but the tangerines dry the beer out a bit.

Dark pour. Typical porter characteristics with maybe a hint of orange. Definitely not as pronounced as I expected.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Growler shared by StFun! Dark pour with a wispy tan head and spotty lace. Aroma is tangerine and coffee. Resinous citric flavor. Remember those chocolate orange candies when you were a kid? This is that, in a bottle. Interesting beer
