3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 hotstuff (3249) - USA - SEP 2, 2011
On the hop handle at JK O’Donnell’s on 8-17-2011. Poured a very small tan head that fully lasted, fair amount of lacing, transparent, and a golden hue. The aroma is citrusy, passion fruit, sweet, hint of caramel, and sweet. The flavor mimicked the aroma along with some light bitterness, crisp, clean and the pale malts took a backseat. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer is more hoppy tasting than a lot of the APA’s that I have tasted/rated which caught me by surprise.

Pours a nice orange with off white head. Nose and taste is big on the passionfruit. I like the fact that they avoided the temptation to over hop this. 40 IBU is great on this beer. Very nicely balance and easy drinking.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2012 On tap. Saw it was a single hop pale ale, so I tried to guess which hop. I was wrong, but that’s cool, always learning. Pours an orange-golden with a nice off-white head. Nose was big hops, slightly citrus but more just fruity. Taste was quite bitter, but with a little sweetness to balance. Palate was lighter to medium bodied with a longer finish. Really a nice pale ale, the hops were well featured. Glad this was on tap in my area.

Draught. Great discovery! First beer from flat 12 and experience with galaxy hop. Showcases the hop really well. Aroma tropical fruit. Taste the same with decent malt backbone and very little bitterness.

Draft sample. Poured a clear golden color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate earthy hops and fruit aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. I would recommend this to a freind.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear orange with a small white head. Aroma of lots of grapefruit and citrusy fruits, sweet malt. Flavor is super fruity with even more grapefruit, tangerine, mango. Some herbal floral notes. A very interesting pale, really more of an ipa. It is super fruity, wow!

Tap. Clear light orange pour, light head and a light dry hoppy aroma. Flavor is bright orange blossom, fresh hops, some lemon rind and finished with a good bitter bite. Nice surprise find I’d never heard of before today.

tap - This brew smells mainly of pine rich hops. The flavor features moderate to strong hop bitterness with pine and herbal notes with a little citrus. Why did I get those characteristics more than the fruit everyone else reported? I have no idea. There’s also caramel malt for balance and a long bitter finish. It’s very good and is definitely on the high end of the bitterness scale for APAs.
