Tasted 9/7/08. Draft from the brewpub. Filtered with a dark amber hue. Good malt roast with a smooth finish. Fudgy and nutty. Went great with the meatloaf I had for dinner!
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BlackDonald (1127) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUL 30, 2008
I love this beer, its great in its simplicity. A solid brown ale that verges on being a nut brown. Has a great nutty and sweet toffee and caramel nose, with a bit of chocolate on the palate. Not too heavy, with a nice balance of flavors and a bit of bitterness comthing through in the finish.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours a deep brown with a beige head. Aroma of sweet malts. Flavor is nutty and a little sweet with a slightly bitter finish.

Draft sampler, 4 Aug. 07. Almost Porterish in color, though holding it to the light shows its brown edges. But, in fact, it actually tastes like what a lot of big brewers try to pass off as porters. A bit of toffee flavor, sticky with some smoky sweetness, and just a note of fruitiness. Could actually be my favorite beer here, just because it pushes the edge of its intended style.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Burrobuns (83) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - APR 27, 2007
Nice dark color with very thin head and almost oily looking once the head fades. Taste had the raisin flavor that is used in a lot of the dark/sweeter flat branch beer (one that I do not enjoy). Tasted malt and a little toffee flavor too, but no real nutty flavor. I was disappointed, but still a decent beer.

Very brown, with a ruby tint. Mild chocolat and roast aromas. Dry, chalky on the palate, with some chocolate, and maybe some spices, like cinnamon. Also a molasses component? A little on the thin side.

Rich and chewy, a really decent nutty brown ale. Nuts and toffee are predominant, with just a hint of hoppiness in the aftertaste. Has also a bit of a graham cracker crust kind of maltiness. Enjoyable!

On tap at the brewpub: It pours a dark brownish muddy water color with tiny head that gives way to a ring quickly. The flavor was strong of roasted malts in my opinion, nutty, caramel, and toffee.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Terminus (2892) - Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA - DEC 16, 2005
tap at brewpub. pours dark amber witha small kacki colored head. aroema of toasted almonds, chocolate and some faint roast in there-like a nutty porter. big peanut, lightly chocolate like the old school ice cream that comes in the bricks. pretty dry and velvety palate. long nutty finish with a touch of roasted marshmellow. a very tasty and unique brown ale.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - DEC 2, 2005
On tap at the brewpub. Brown in color with a white head that does not last long. Mild carbonation. Has a dark roasted chocolate scent and a thick mouth feel. Surprising flavor of tropical fruit in a heavy syrup. possibly pears. Finishes rather hoppy. Strange and delicious for a style I generally don’t care for...
