It poured a brownish color with a small head. The aroma was of malt and mild hops. The taste was sweet that expanded into a hoppy malty flavor.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub - Pours reddish brown with a dense tan head. The aroma has very toasted malt with lots of nuttiness. It has a medium smooth velvety body with semi-sharp carbonation. The taste has the malt and nuttiness of the aroma with a bit more sweetness that seems like honey. The finish has some spicy hops and a bit of a roasted taste. Nice brown ale.

Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a dark amber-brown color with a thin and creamy beige head that recedes slowly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet roasted malt, nuts and brown sugar. Medium, smooth body with flavors of malt, treacle and roasted nuts. The finish is malty with a short nutty aftertaste. Above average all around.

Tasted 9/7/08. Draft from the brewpub. Filtered with a dark amber hue. Good malt roast with a smooth finish. Fudgy and nutty. Went great with the meatloaf I had for dinner!

I love this beer, its great in its simplicity. A solid brown ale that verges on being a nut brown. Has a great nutty and sweet toffee and caramel nose, with a bit of chocolate on the palate. Not too heavy, with a nice balance of flavors and a bit of bitterness comthing through in the finish.

Draft sampler, 4 Aug. 07. Almost Porterish in color, though holding it to the light shows its brown edges. But, in fact, it actually tastes like what a lot of big brewers try to pass off as porters. A bit of toffee flavor, sticky with some smoky sweetness, and just a note of fruitiness. Could actually be my favorite beer here, just because it pushes the edge of its intended style.
