3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Growler at PilsnerPeterís Spring Gathering. Pours a clear brown with a light white head. Smells, remarkably, of peppers. But very one dimensionally. Best (ok, only other) pepper beer Iíve had is one from Horesheads... the difference? That one captures all of the sweet fruit that a nice pod has going for it, in addition to the heat. On here, all Iím getting is that raw green chili heat. That I could live with. What gets me though is that flavor wise, almost all I was getting, is corn. CORN! This tasted like corn. With some peppers mixed in. Not too hot, which is nice, as, if I could get past the corn, I could put down a bit of this. But the corn flavor is just overpowering here. Very one dimensional.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
On draft at the source. The beer is light orange and mildly hazy with a thin white collar. The aroma does indeed offer a healthy dose of green chilies. The flavor is one dimensional, with a light body and ample green chilies throughout. No heat or burn in the finish, which I was expecting. A fun beer to sample, and well done for what it is. I like green chilies, so itís likely that I enjoyed this more than the average consumer. Worth a try.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour from a growler brought back from Columbia by my pal Tim- thanks, Tim! Pours a cloudy, dull orange-gold with almost no head. Aroma shows a lot of vegetal, mildly spiced green chili pepper with some backing sweet malts. Flavor is really- and unexpectedly- well balanced, with mild chili peppers complemented by toasted and pale malts, and spicy hops. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a mildly spiced, malty mouthfeel. Lots of chili beers in MO to choose from, and this might be the best.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Kind of flat overall. Base beer seems kind of watery without much unique aroma or flavor. Chili flavor isnt great and doest add a lot to the base beer.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
It poured a nice brownish color. The aroma was primarily chilis. The taste had a malty assault on the tongue, but jumps right into a strong chili taste. Nothing special.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nonic draft at the brewpub in Columbia, Missouri. Pour is a slight golden orange with a minimal white head. Aroma is a bunch of pepper, fresh clean vegetable spice. Itís not super spicy pepper, just fresh vegetable pepper. Thatís more or less the nose. The taste is less spicy than expected, just a nice clean beer with a crisp fresh pepper taste to it - more green pepper than spicy hot. The peppers carry the long finish, clean. Palate is medium bodied, lingering dry pepper. Nice pepper beer.

Tasted at Flat Branch Brewery in Columbia, Missouri. Quite light pale lager looking appearance. Huge spicy chili aroma. Nice malty flavor below the chili flavor. Pretty good chili beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled on draft at the brewpub - this is probably the first chili beer Iíve liked. Pours light yellow with a small white head. The aroma has lots of green chili and light spice - not much of a íbeerí presence on the aroma. The body is light with moderate carbonation and is quite refreshing. The taste has lots of green chili, but it is not offensive or overly spicy. A clean pale malt presence is there as well. There is a bit of spicy hops on the finish. Quite nice.
