3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Strykzone (3133) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - MAR 24, 2012
Sampled at the brewpub. Served with a stir straw. Black with a hint of red. A creamy 1/4 inch tan foam. Thisvis a sweet fruity stout that seems to be nitro infused. A bit of chocolate and, perhaps, some cinnamon. Caramel and mollasses comes late. This is as gentle a stout as has ever passed these lips.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Kartoffeln (40) - Kansas, USA - OCT 10, 2011
Pours black with dark brown head. Roasted and a little smoked malt on the aroma balanced with some malty sweet aromas. Flavor is worty sweet but finishes dry. Mouthfeel was creamy to start and dry and a little astringent to finish. Very low carbonation hurt the mouthfeel of it. Overall unique and pleasant sweet stout.

It poured a black color with a light brown head. The aroma was of strong roasted chocolate and malts. The taste was of slight licorice, then a strong sweetness, followed by chocholate and ending with a milky sourness. This is a very well-made beer.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 phaleslu (3544) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - JAN 5, 2011
Sample poured from a growler shared by pinkfloyd4ever- thanks again, Kevin! Pours a deep, dark, oily brown color with almost no head. Aroma of roasted chocolate malts, toast, earth, cream, vanilla, and just a hint of coffee. Flavor of roasted malts, smooth, rich chocolate, cream, and oats. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sweet, roasty mouthfeel. This was a little flat, as the growler was a week+ old and the plastic cap wasn’t doing its job completely, but I still really enjoyed this.

Tap at the restaurant. If I missed anything before moving back to Columbia. It was flat branch. And this beer was amazing. Poured pitch black with a creamy tan head. Aroma was chocolate, roasted malts, and milk. Flavor was roasted creaminess, coffee, and chocolate. Medium body, smooth sweet stout. This beer is legit. At the restaurant they said that it just took 2nd in the beer festival in Colorado. Flat Branch staple and a must try.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 vyvvy (2920) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - JUL 11, 2010
Sampled on draft at the brewpub - Pours dark brown with a tan head. The aroma has roasted malt, cream and vanilla. Medium rich body with gentle carbonation. The flavor starts with cream and roast - lots of roastinesss with low bitterness and is very smooth. The finish has some bitterness, but can’t tell if it is from the roasted malt or hops. Very nice stout.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 bockimstein (165) - New Madrid, Missouri, USA - MAY 23, 2010
On tap at brew pub on 5/14/2010. Black with thick off white head. Coffee and chocolate. Body is a little thinner than I expected in an oatmeal stout, but that did not detract too much. Lot’s of coffee in taste, with a bit of bitter in the finish. A very good effort.
