Fuggles and goldings on the nose - this is going to be another bo standard ESB I suspect. That said, there’s a slight citric highlight coming through. Lovely copper/amber in the glass. Flavour is pleasantly malty and bitter with a good balance. A nice example of an ESB, as predicted, but nothing special.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Scopey (3380) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 1, 2012
Bottle at Leighton’s. It pours golden amber, with a thin-medium white head. The nose is rather bland …..sweetish malt, dough and potato. The taste is hay, dough, hint of spice, citrus pith, grass and potato, with a lightly bitter finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. A bit thin and boring to be honest….
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jackl (2827) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 1, 2012
Bottle at the Mini-tasting. The pour’s deep amber with a small head. The nose is big bouncy malts, toffee, rich caramel and hints of black pepper. The taste is soft caramel, light forest fruits and hints of malevolent tobacco. Soft carbonation, easy-drinking. Overall, perfectly acceptable. Just a bit ’meh’, really.
