2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 cheapdark (2962) - Quiptown & Central Valley, USA - OCT 3, 2010
UPDATED: MAY 16, 2011 On tap at the 3 Sons in Wexford. Really nice rocky head looks like crags. Barely any aroma, surprisingly. No floral hops or heavy pine tar aroma. Color is clean clear pale ale with dose of brown color, not hazy. Since I am not a fan of IPA I was pleased that it did not have the impact of strong bitter IPA. A little less personality than was expected. Actually mopre like a strong APA. After a while the IPA bitterness tries to settle in but for the most part it never goes over the top. Leathery at times. Some CO2 inthere. Yes, IPA grapefruit rind bitterness sets in after the session and hangs for a while. Yep, as an IPA hater, this stuff was tolerable.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 FROTHINGSLOSH (3388) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 21, 2010
Sampled on draft at 3 Rivers 6 Pack this beer poured a caramel-amber color with a small beige head that faded quickly and produced a little lacing. The aroma was very faint with touches of caramel and vague fruity hops. The flavor was bitter and dryish with notes of caramel, wood, nut and light vague fruity and earthy hops. The finish was medium length and bitter with a hint of pineapple and earthy hops. Medium body. It would be a stretch to call this an APA let alone an IPA.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Beerman6686 (2548) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 6, 2010
This poured a darker golden color to light orange with a big off white head. Aroma was very light grassy hops and thin malt. Flavor was really bland, light grapefruit and grass and 2 row. Just an insult to be called an IPA
