A very strong India Pale Ale, The Imperial is loaded with Cascade Hops for explosive citrus characteristics with a slow, smooth finish.

Bottle, clear amber pour, decent foam and lacing. I think this may be slightly past its prime but i will rate anyway. Hop aroma has faded but i detect grapefruit on top of the malty backbone. Similarly, the caramel and toast flavors come out first, followed by a pleasant bitterness.

Tap. Pours clear amber with a medium off white head and decent lacing. Aroma is dominated by that silky smooth grapefruit that makes Pliny so good. Flavor is grapefruit, notes of pine, and a slightly sweet malt backbone. Finish is medium bitter. This is a very nice dipa.

Wasn’t impressed with a sample at the tasting room but I will rate from the 650ml bottle. Good white head looks nice on a gold crisp beer. Scent gives a strong malt note. Flavour has hops, caramel and alcohol. Not overpowering on with any characteristic. Almost a grain flavour mixed in like a hint of rye.

Poured up on tap at the Missoula location with clear deep gold body and copper hues supporting a full semi tight off white head. The modest aroma has hints of both citrus and spicy hoppiness. The taste is nice and chewy with rich hop flavor of malt sweetened citrus and tangy spicy hops. These notes grow into only a modest yet pleasing level of hoppy bitterness. The hop flavor holds right into the finish as moderate bitterness swells from time to time. Solid IPA here with loads of pleasing hop flavor punch. This is just what I was in the mood for. Oh? This is a IIPA. That explains why I liked it as an IPA.

RBAG 2012. Poured clear amber with nice white head. Aroma was a nice balance between citrus and grapefruit from the hops and the malt base. Malts show through in the taste asserting some sweetness and nuttiness. Hops add a nice bitterness and grapefruit later in the taste. Quite balanced although I have a feeling this could be much better if consumed fresher.

RBAG 2012 Poured out a nice amber brew with a bright white cap. RRGF, peaches, tangerine, caramel, maybe lime, caramel, bit of resin. Nice. Standard flavours, pine, resing, rrgf, peaches, bitterness, darker caramel, goodness. Sa, pathetic quick review.

RBAG. From brown 660ml bottle. Bronze colour, fairly clear. Thin but clingy white foam. Nose has a bit of nutty malt, citrus hops, pungent grapefruit. Taste has some caramel, toasted malts, nut, grapefruit hops. Medium length finish, lasting grapefruit. Medium body and restrained carbonation. Very drinkable, pretty balanced double ipa.

Bottle: Light amber in color; perfectly translucent. Small beige head. Mild aroma is sweet with citrus and florals. Tastes really damn good! A stout maltiness with plenty of citrus sweetness and a little floral. A bit of pine... a bit of who gives a flying f**k! Absolutely an above average DIPA that I’d rather sit back and enjoy then look any further. Well done Flathead Lake!

22. Pours a cloudy dark amber with bright orange edges. Loose white head. Big orange, grapefruit, and pine nose. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Caramel and toast on the mid palate. Grapefruit and pine showing, big piney wash for the finish.
