Draft at the source. Crystal clear golden color, thick white head with solid sheets of lacing. Aroma of bright pine resin. Taste is soapy bright pone. Tasty.

Poured up on tap at the Missoula location with clear deep gold body and copper hues supporting a full semi tight off white head. The modest aroma has hints of both citrus and spicy hoppiness. The taste is nice and chewy with rich hop flavor of malt sweetened citrus and tangy spicy hops. These notes grow into only a modest yet pleasing level of hoppy bitterness. The hop flavor holds right into the finish as moderate bitterness swells from time to time. Solid IPA here with loads of pleasing hop flavor punch. This is just what I was in the mood for. Oh? This is a IIPA. That explains why I liked it as an IPA.

Brewpub tap. This batch is 9.8%. Clear orange amber, big passionfruit and citrus aroma, sweet. Perfect harmony between equally generous sweet malt and cascade hoppiness. Very bitter finish. A big beer that satisfies perfectly.

On tap at the brewpub in Missoula. Pours amber with a decent off-white head and a citrus aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt flavor with a seriously bitter hop finish. Tastes great.

22. Pours a cloudy dark amber with bright orange edges. Loose white head. Big orange, grapefruit, and pine nose. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Caramel and toast on the mid palate. Grapefruit and pine showing, big piney wash for the finish.

Draft half-pint at the brewery taproom. Pretty light in color but a nice firm foam head. Deeply resiny hop aroma. Mildly strong but without being over-done. Warming, although subtlely so. This is a very, very well done "big" beer that’s just not too big, as some can be. Nice welcome to Montana. (#2859, 5/12/2007)

Grapefruit, pine and floral notes on top of caramel and pale malt. Not iced tea, just some actual nice caramel notes on the nose. A little spicy hop notes as well. Golden amber pour, nice brightness, creamy head. Flavors of caramel and pale malts, a little honey perhaps, grapefruit, pine, and floral notes with a lingering spicy hop aspect. Decent IIPA. Smooth nicely bubbled carbonation feels nice on the mouth. That sounded gay.

(22oz bomber) clearish orange, soapy edge bubbles. Nose is quite malty, bit floral, biscuity, sweaty citrus, really nice. Taste is biscuity, caramel, malty, florals, lightly bitter but not assertive. Oily finish, nice body.

On draught at the Flanagan’s Central Station in Whitefish, Montana. Pours a semi-hazy orangish amber brew with a thick and slow dissipating off-white head. Excellent lacing during the dissolve and sampling. Aroma of sweet grapefruit, some citrus zest with a light caramel malt. Taste is thick, medium to full bodied, slightly tart with a grapefruit flavor. Finish is slightly tart, dry and a lingering grapefruit aftertaste. Good marks for this West Coast Double IPA style brew.
