COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Try to imagine a very tiny chocolate, coffee-like, miniature beer grenade exploding in your mouth. This ale is deep and complex.

Braudog (4607) - Hampton, USA - MAY 13, 2007
Draft pint at the brewery taproom. Dark brown, thinly topped and moderately laced. Sweetness finishes this off, but it starts nutty almost. Lightly bittered. Only downside is it’s relative lack of body. Would’ve put this in the brown ale category, but enjoyable. (#2857, 5/12/2007)

Sample tray now listed as Painted Rock Porter. This head on black. Sharp bitterness in dark roasted beer. Bitterness takes a little getting used to.

On tap at the Missoula brewpub. Pours black with a rich tan head and treacle aroma. There is a mild chocolate and molasses flavor with a hint of licorice and a dry finish.

curly (2352) - Seattle (Newcastle), Washington, USA - MAY 2, 2010
Sampled at the brewery. Solid black, creamy tan head. Aroma is very mild but I found roast malt, nut, chocolate. Taste is also mild with roasted flavors and a milky creaminess. Medium thin body, finish is sticky.

Nice dark brown with a tan head. Aromas of rich malts with dark, bitter sweet chocolate and a hint of coffee. The flavor is of burnt coffee, bittersweet chocolate.

Brewpub tap. Deep red-brown. Rich chocolate and roast character, not a lot of fruit character. Low bitterness. Very nice.

Draft at the Iron Horse in Missoula, MT on 7/15/07. Small tan head topping an opaque brown liquid, yet leaving some decent lace. Chocolate and coffee, with a hint of dark cherry wafts up from the glass. Medium body with a smooth anc creamy mouthfeel. Molasses flavors offset by a spicy light bitterness. Softly dry finish that seems just right. I thought this was a very enjoyable and well made porter.
