COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dry, Guinness-Style Stout. The dryness comes from the roast barley, which has a coffee-like flavor. Dispensing the Stout under Nitrogen gas from a special tap, gives the beer a creamy texture.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer pours black with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Sweet roasted malt aroma along with a touch of chocolate. Medium, smooth body with flavors of malt, cocoa and mild coffee. The finish is short and roasty with a slight malty aftertaste. Just average overall.

Strong roasted aroma. At bit thin. The flavor was both strong and week at the same time. Not great or balanced. Serving: Tap

On nitro at the BP. Almost opaque black with creamy tan head. Aroma is smoke and roasted malt. Off-dry smokey, roasted malt, bitter bakers chocolate, a little spicey. Light body and watery. Like a watery porter and a little chalky.

Pour is black with a thin dense brown head...smell is rich and roasty chocolate with hints of smoke...what a great nose!!!! rich and roasty flavors of cocoa and lots of coffee...a little too thin...if it was a little more full bodied it would be amazing...

On tap at the Flatlanders Brew Pub. Poured a dark, dark brown color with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, and caramel. Tastes of roast, chocolate, caramel, and some coffee in the finish. Thinner body.

Draught sample at the brewpub, December 28th 2006. Typical nitro pour, nice dark head lasts through my samples of 4 other beers, opaque jet body, bit of dark lacing....nose of chocolate and lots and lots of prunes, deep and fairly well structured though sweeter than I expected....watery body but no off flavors, lightly spicy with cinnamon and perhaps a dash of licorice, grapy, bittersweet chocolate and touches of coffee....prune juice comes in at midpalate and doesn’t go away, dominates far too much....not bad, but too fruity and lacking in roast.

Gr0ve (1877) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUN 21, 2006
Draught at the brewpub. Pitch black with a creamy off-white, nearly brown, head. Malty sweet roasted aromas. Caramel and burnt flavours. Mouthfeel is surprisingly sweet for an irish stout. I belive there has been used caramel and crystal malts in the beer. Finishes lightly roasted, but not bitter.

RAYBOY01 (2005) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 12, 2006
Not much going on on any level here. Virtually no nose. Watered down mouthfeel. Weak flavors of roasted malt/chocolate/coffee, but very weak. I wasted 10 minutes on this one!

Ughsmash (5828) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 9, 2006
On tap at Goose Island Stoutfest. Poured a deep brown with only a light ring of toffee head. Nose was of semi-sweet roasted chocolate and a little caramel.. not much more. Flavor picked up the chocolate and some stale coffee.. also just OK. Carbonation was too low resulting in a flat feel to it. Body was light to light-med. This was drinkable, but powerfully mediocre.

Pours an oily black/brown with a thin, non-retaining head. The nose finds a sour chocolate aroma and the flavor matches. Thin and chalky with a decent alcohol hit but a dirty finish. Mediocre. Tasted like an amateur experiment.
