Flavorful Dunkel, could use more color and textured. Compared to other Dunkels’ it’s rather bland.

Very anonymous dunkel. Good aroma with hints of cheese and butter, beautiful rusty color and very ligth on the palate. It is by any means a friendly dunkel which can be enjoyed by pale-lager drinkers too. The head is vanishing faster than you can say "prost" though, and the overall experience is rather indifferent.

330 ml bottle. Clear amber body with a moderate sized tan head. Weak in aroma, possible to detect much more than some malt. Flavor is sweet malt, hint of toast and traces of dry fruit with low bitterness. Medium body and moderate in aftertaste. Drinkable but not exiting at all.

33cl from Bon Voyage, Berlin. Pours clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma of malt and caramel with hints of dark fruits, hops and some lightly roasty notes too. Medium body and average carbonation. Sweet and malty with a lightly hoppy and bitter finish. Quite well balanced, easy to drink and nice enough.

GoufCustom (219) - HONG KONG - FEB 17, 2013

Translucent ruby brown colour; Razor-thin head and beige foam which last for about 30 seconds; Minimal lacing and notable carbonation; Aroma of sweet malt, burnt caramel and coffee; Very thin and light sweet taste of malt, coffee and faint glass; Very light body, watery palate; Mouth feel is mildly pleasant, very muted for a dunkel. Somehow, its flat taste profile reminds me of Sam Adam’s Boston Lager, only different by its eventual malty palate and somewhat carbonated feel which the latter lacks. Notable mild hop bitterness as a finish. Fairly dry after taste, quite easy to mouth.

Comments: a barely average dunkel with poor looks, okay smell, muted taste, watery body, and unexcitable palate. Middle of the road seems to be Flensburger’s vision. Drinkable but not recommended.
