The german wheat beers are travelling north. This fairly new wheat sets itself apart from the typical bavarian by its unique taste and the typical flensburger bottle.

The aroma has malt, bananas, cloves, and yeast. The appearance is lightly hazed gold with a medium head. The flavor is malty and somewhat sour and acidic, with the usual banana and clove associated with the style. However this is not the best example of the style. The palate is thin but smooth. Overall I like it but don’t like the taste 100%.

Flensburger hefe- from my notes. Pours a more traditional hefeweizen color of a deep gold, very light amber, cloudy and a nice fluffy head. Aroma is fruity esters like banana, along with a pretty decent balance of spicy clove phenols. Wheaty flavro, good full body, creamy and lightly sweet with an herbal hop finish.

Bottle. Dark honey body with a thick foamy lasting head. Nose-banana, spice, lotion, orange hand soap. Taste-black pepper, artificial banana, citric pith, wheaty. Has the usual flavored associated with wheats (banana, clove, phenols), but they are nicely restrained (I normally don’t like those flavors). Mildly thin. Refreshing.

flip tops are cool...one for the collection and all others recycle to the homebrew case. pours a hazy golden color with a thick, off-white, frothy head and has a nose as well as taste full of citrus with a nice corn flakes with slices of banana overtone. smooth drinking weizen that i look forward to having again.

I love these small 0,33L swing-top bottles, perfect fit for the hand. Calls itself the "northernmost Wheat" beer in the country, which has secondary meaning for beer geeks - let’s see if it lives up to those standards. Pours a hazy golden with a rich, lacing white head. Aroma of yeast, wheat, banana, and cloves. Taste full of wheat, yeast, and banana. Touch of lemon and orange. Light spiciness. Medium body, citric tartiness in the middle- and endgame. Slightly oily. Nice dry, tart, wheaty finish. I think my next wheat beer will have a little more Southern Charm.

Pours pale hazy gold with a big loose head. Wheat and CO2 aroma. Mild wheat flavor with a tart finish. Tastes like a cross between a German Hefe and US Wheat.

I enjoyed this one, pouring a hazy straw body with a humongous spongy head that collapsed in on itself very slowly. It smelled of bubblegum, soft wheat, banana, and the merest suggestion of clove. Alas, a bit thin, but the flavor was decent, more of the banana and wheat than in the nose. It finishes on a very mildly tart lemon twist. They should sell this closer to home. An ideal warm weather brew.

Hazed straw yellow, enormous, staying snow-white head. Pretty nose, wide open, sweet banana chimes in, minor spice...nice. Taste: gooood...if...un-remarkable. Clean, quenching, but lacks any zest. Nice texture, adequate body, long, yeasty finish. Missing something, though. Zing...zap...something like that.. Easy-drinking, lemon is awake now...but still a bit too dull for me to revisit. Solid, middle of the road Bavarian Weizen. Nuttin’ wrong with that.

330ml bottle. I had high expectations on this one, due to the complexity of its brother Dunkel. The colour is very strange - golden hazy. The aroma is standard with nothing special jumping out of it. Strong in taste, not many bubbles. There’s something here that’s not quite right. The bitterness and absence of roundness, not typical for a wheat beer. tbone’s experiences seem similar to mine, but this bottle is almost fresh. I will return, but to the dunkel one.

Øl (50 cl.) købt i Tyskland.
