The german wheat beers are travelling north. This fairly new wheat sets itself apart from the typical bavarian by its unique taste and the typical flensburger bottle.

Aroma holds some slightly smokey notes at first and a bit of a hot dog water smell. Then some mild yeasty bannana aroma comes in. Cloudy yellow in color with a lasting thumb thick white head. More hot dog water int he fore and more mild smoked flavors...smoked like a little smokie..not like a Rauch. Very mild bannan notes. no spice or cloves. Has a smoked wheat grain taste that is pervasive and foreign to my palate.

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2006 Foggy gold. Gigantor, frothy, white head. Aroma of grainy wheat malt and subtle yeast. Same flavor. Refreshing. Medium, tingly palate. Drinkable, not exciting. It was my 6th rate of the evening, I’ll retry and rerate if necessary. ReRate on fresh palate adds a dusty, light fuitiness in both flavor and aroma.

Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Yellow cloudy colour. Heavy hoppy/Yeasty aroma. Thin flavor. Short finish. Watery palate. Not the best hefe.

Corn yellow pour with a thick fluffy caked white head. Nose has citrus, breads, and faint fruit. Some spice like clove. Taste falls out onto the palate with lemon and wheat, banana, and a butterscotch type of ciggarette smoke. Is a bit thicker than a lot of the weizens Ive had earlier and thus, gave me more to enjoy instead of washing straight down.

Yellow, rather clean colour. Not particularly muddy for a sweat. Good white head. Smell is typical wheat with banana and with some hops. Quite low carbonated. Instead of freshness it is less sweet and more bitter in the aftertaste.

There is a combination of bread and butter aromas. The color is a cloudy golden with a decent size white head. The flavor has both banana and bread with a clean finish on the palate.

Bottle. Hazy golden colour with a big longlasting white head. Aromas of cloves, bananas and wheat. Wheat malty flavor with hints of cloves and banana. A little thinner then the ones from Bavaria but refreshing.

Bottle purchased in Hannover, Germany. This beer is not a Southern Bavarian hefeweizen brewed with the classic Weihenstaphen yeast strain, but one brewed with the brewery’s own. Does not have those funky estery aromas, and flavors of the Bavarian classic, but is a nice, tart, thirst quenching brew, with good malted wheat flavor. Pours to a hazy, pale golden color, with a thick, rocky, white head, and a vibrant carbonation. The nose is crisp, with good tart and pale malt aroma. The palate is soft, with good, crisp, pale malt flavor, and good tart and grainy wheat malt flavor. Finishes clean and refreshing with more good tart wheat malt flavor, and just a touch of grassy hop bittereness. Very refreshing and drinkable. A great hot weather brew, and would be a nice beer to wash down some grilled brats.

From a 12 oz. distinctive stubby Flensburger flip-top brown bottle with "Best Before" date on the back label, 07/10/06. Made a very good appearance, poured a dirty cloudy golden with a large pillowy white head that slowly reduced to a thin foamy lacing and a good deal of laced sticking. Had a tasty aroma, banana fruity yeastiness, clove and peppery spice, and a semi-sweet twangy wheat malt. Good carbonation and a smooth light to medium bodied mouth feel, good drinkability. A good, crisp taste, banana, fruity, a smooth clove spicy bitterness in the middle and a semi-dry wheat malty finish.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2006 Bottle, at home (030613). Orange/copper with white head, quickly gone. Aroma moderate malty (fruity, citrus, toffee). Flavor moderate sweet and acidic. Light to medium body, watery to oily. Not a typical Hefe but certainly fine.
