The german wheat beers are travelling north. This fairly new wheat sets itself apart from the typical bavarian by its unique taste and the typical flensburger bottle.

I generally like to compare wheat beers to Paulaners Hefe, and I thought this one ranked near as high. It had a real nice citrus/clove taste and wasn’t watered down or bitter. I like to call the clove taste bubble gum flavor (which I like ) and this one had a lot of bubble gum flavor. It had a medium head and a thick haze to it.

Big creamy head....nice ole pop from da fliptop....hmmm, first sip is actually kinda nice, subtle wheat beer....lacing is very good...very light...way better than the price it sells for..a summer day hefe or a beginners hefe!

From a 355 ml bottle. The body is medium gold a slight greenish tint. The head is a dull whote colored with lots of bubbles working up the glass. The aroma is soapy with strong clove spice behind that. There are also hints of dried banana chips. The taste has some decent banana with some fairly light clove behind that. There is a subtle hint of mild tropical fruit, like mango. This has a creamy mouthfeel and I find it to be a pretty good hefe.

500 ml bottle. Orange coloured and somewhat cloudy, but less so than most other weissbiers. Thick creamy white head. Rich clovey and soft banana aromas. Beer is fizzy when it enters the mouth but bready and banana-like flavours come through a moment later. Smooth refreshing mouthfeel. Finishes with notes of orange. Hops are gentle, but noticeable especially in the finish.

Beer pours clear, golden color with the expected big, totally retained egg white head. Aroma is wheaty with light banana and clove. Flavor is also a bit on the light side. Flavor of wheat and a decent spicy finish. Hefe Light.

Not great but not terrible. Refeshing with a good wheaty flavor but overall it’s just average. There’s a ton of other wheat beers to choose from that I’d pick first. One and done.

Well, that’s a German hefe. Importing their water is unusual. Has the wheaty flavor, but not too much yeast. Not bad, just not that interesting.

The aroma has malt, bananas, cloves, and yeast. The appearance is lightly hazed gold with a medium head. The flavor is malty and somewhat sour and acidic, with the usual banana and clove associated with the style. However this is not the best example of the style. The palate is thin but smooth. Overall I like it but don’t like the taste 100%.

Flensburger hefe- from my notes. Pours a more traditional hefeweizen color of a deep gold, very light amber, cloudy and a nice fluffy head. Aroma is fruity esters like banana, along with a pretty decent balance of spicy clove phenols. Wheaty flavro, good full body, creamy and lightly sweet with an herbal hop finish.

Bottle. Dark honey body with a thick foamy lasting head. Nose-banana, spice, lotion, orange hand soap. Taste-black pepper, artificial banana, citric pith, wheaty. Has the usual flavored associated with wheats (banana, clove, phenols), but they are nicely restrained (I normally don’t like those flavors). Mildly thin. Refreshing.
