The german wheat beers are travelling north. This fairly new wheat sets itself apart from the typical bavarian by its unique taste and the typical flensburger bottle.

Bottled, 330ml swingtop from S.H Jones in Banbury. Clouded straw with white head. Full on Hefeweizen, banana, pear drop flavours, quite strong in flavour, took some sipping through for me. Sweetish finish. It’s ok.

Appearance and aroma typical for weizens. Taste is cloves, banana and yeast, but it is more dry, less sour than Bavarian. Slightly bitter finish and light body, a bit watery mouthfeel resembles pils. But still drinkable and refreshing.

Bottle. Almost clear golden body with a medium tall head. How is this not a Kristallweizen? I can see straight through it. Aroma has mild spiciness and sweet wheat malt. Crisp wheaty taste without the banana smoothie type of sensations that are found in unfiltered versions of the style. Thin and sweet finish. Well, it’s not a good example of the Hefeweizen style but it’s an alright Kristallweizen.

(5 l party keg expired 2 weeks ago) cloudy golden colour, huge, dense and quite stable white head; aromaa of intensive banana, some wheat and citruses; taste is the same though less intensively; correct weizen

Hazy golden color with white head that has medium retention. Aroma is very peculiar, with some cider similarities (specially the apple note), also some spices and a bit of banana. Light to medium body (I expected a much more creamy tezture). The banana is more marked on the flavour, together with spices. Very refreshing, but far from the classic Hefeweizen style.

0,33L bottle (from Liviko Alcostore), BB 16.04.16. Pours slightly hazy golden with off-white head. The head stays. Aroma is sweet, fruity, soapy, banana, some metallic notes. Flavor is sweet, wheat, fruits, banana, some citric notes. Body is on a thinner side, carbonation is rather high, a touch of alcohol and some bitterness in the finish. Overall: ok, but not really memorable.

*Old rating, best before 26.06.04. Würzig-mildes, weiches Bier mit bananigen Tönen. Leichte Herbe, nicht zu tief.

OK Hefeweizen fra Flensburger. Sammenhæng mellem pris og kvalitet. Meget flot flaske.

Bottle. Hazy straw beer w 2 finger head. Malty yeasty aroma. Some banana notes. Wheat. Mild citrus. Ok but not as good as you would expect from a German weizen. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sweet cereal aroma with notes of banana, wood color, a little sour sweet taste, palate leaves a light body. Have been days trying all the German beers in the supermarket and this was better than the average. This has a nice packaging and some personality. Would definitely try it again.
