Belle carbonation. Amertume moyenne. Bel équilibre.

Dark red with a thick light beige head. Soft aroma, malty and roasted. Taste has chocolate, citrus, pine, sweet and roasted tones. Medium body, soft carbonation, velvety mouth feel. Chocolatey dry and bitter after taste.
Very well balanced, not as over roasted over hopped as many Black IPAs.

Yeast taste was prominent, but so were off-flavors - particularly plastic-y. Could have been my bottle, but was not a fan.

33cl bottle, BB.., Cave à bulles 02/2014. (As: La Triple Brune IPA). Different label with by now almost obligatory francophone punning on the US concept of IPA as buffalo-riding cowboys going "aïepiiié" etc. (cf. also Le Paradis) - a comic nod to Astérix. Pours a pretty convincing opaque leather sole brown with beautiful tan head. Instant waft of dark herbeceous, near-exotic hops, lime, with some liquorice and caramel. Taste is pretty balanced, particularly with the caramel malts blending in nicely into the lychee and tangerine zest as it warms. Rather thin, session-ready mouthfeel, palate-drying pine and spruce coming through. treacherous ABVs a sign of a very decent brew and a tasty Black/¿brown IPA at that, save a few off-notes (minimal tar and metallic qualities). So far, one of few Cave à Bulles micro bottles almost worth the heavy French ransom on their heads...

<Labelled "La Triple Brune IPA] > BBF 02092014.

Bottle, bought @ Beer City, Belgium. Pours clear dark amber brown with a small, creamy, beige head. Aroma has toasted caramel, grass, citrus. Medium carbonation, fine dry and light creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has good crisp malts, coffee, dusty. Citrus and grassy bitterness. Quite lovely.

18.11.13 Bottled 330ml Saveur. Dark amber color, decent beige head, lace. Resiny hoppy nose with some fruits and alcohol. Medium-bodied. Front is very sweet and honeyish-fruity with lots of resiny hops. Finishing to the touch of licorice and alcohol. Decent brew. Finish is a bit short, even more aggressive hoppyness could work.

Bottle picked up from Fietje, Marseille, France, June 2013 consumed at home Sunday 13th October 2013 Pours brown (its described as a triple brown IPA) reasonably hoppy with a decent bitterness,. Some sour fruitiness at the edges. A little spicy, I wonder if the slight sourness I detect suggests that there us a slight infection as I don’t believe it is intentional, still it is not that obvious as to ruin this beer which is actually ok.
