Bottle, 75cL. Home. A dark brown beer with mahogany hues ; opaque ; big off-white creamy head with a medium retention. Fruity aroma (blackberry, black currant), roast, alcohol, resin, light biscuit. Medium sweet, light warming background, medium dry bitter ; light refreshing. Medium voluptuous body, oily texture, average good carbonation, lasting dry finish, light warming. Overall, a fantastic beer : delicious, beautiful landscape.

750ml bottle 3/15/15 (Courtesy of TerryR)-39° in Shaker-Pours black with a big loose tan head. Aroma of hops, coffee, anise, and malt. Taste of the same. This medium bodied brew is not too bad.

Belle carbonation. Amertume moyenne. Bel équilibre.

Dark red with a thick light beige head. Soft aroma, malty and roasted. Taste has chocolate, citrus, pine, sweet and roasted tones. Medium body, soft carbonation, velvety mouth feel. Chocolatey dry and bitter after taste.
Very well balanced, not as over roasted over hopped as many Black IPAs.

Yeast taste was prominent, but so were off-flavors - particularly plastic-y. Could have been my bottle, but was not a fan.

33cl bottle, BB.., Cave à bulles 02/2014. (As: La Triple Brune IPA). Different label with by now almost obligatory francophone punning on the US concept of IPA as buffalo-riding cowboys going "aïepiiié" etc. (cf. also Le Paradis) - a comic nod to Astérix. Pours a pretty convincing opaque leather sole brown with beautiful tan head. Instant waft of dark herbeceous, near-exotic hops, lime, with some liquorice and caramel. Taste is pretty balanced, particularly with the caramel malts blending in nicely into the lychee and tangerine zest as it warms. Rather thin, session-ready mouthfeel, palate-drying pine and spruce coming through. treacherous ABVs a sign of a very decent brew and a tasty Black/¿brown IPA at that, save a few off-notes (minimal tar and metallic qualities). So far, one of few Cave à Bulles micro bottles almost worth the heavy French ransom on their heads...
