Bottle. Ap: Hazy orange. Big white head. Ar: English fruitcake! Yeasty and sweet. Fla: Fruity! I miss some tartness and hops. It’s a little too sweet. There is also some strange flavor. Ov: Medium bodied. Altough this beer has it’s weaknesses it’s well made and worth a try.

Bouteille 33 cl de L’Empire du Malt - Clermont-Ferrand (F). Bière ambrée dorée a petite mousse blanche sur pétillement affairé. Arômes de houblons, épices, coriandre, note herbacée et vinaigrée. La bouche est douce-amère, assez ronde, sucrée, levure et épices, orange et fleurs, avec acidité. Amertume herbacée, fond d’alcool et notes métalliques.

330mL. Pours clear golden with a suddy white head. Weak soapy retention. Odd savory food nose. Taste is tangy and celery with yellow apples and oddities. Dryer palate. Mild alcohol heat. Muted hop bitterness. Eh. Sparkling carbonation. Fluffy mouthfeel. Not very rich. No depth. Sugary but still light bodied. Not a total disaster. Some oversparged malt astringency: tannic.

Bottle in a hotel room in Bruxelles, thanks Jean. Hazy amber coloured with a medium sized white head. Sweet and fruity aroma of caramel and spices. Sweet and fruity flavour of caramel and spices with notes of hops and yeast. Spicy finish.

Pours a hazy medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty, hoppy, yeasty. Flavor is moderately sweet, highly alcoholic, citrus.

Bottle 33cl, a clear yellow beer with huge head. Nose is on peppery hops and oranges. Aroma is medium sweet, fruity bitter agrumes, relative bitterness and astringency, peppery hops with dry feeling, bit boring and classic.

bottle from Village de la Bière Strasbourg. Slightly hazy copper colour, large off-white head. Fruity and spicy with herbal accents and a touch of alcohol in the finish.

Small white head, fed by lively carbonated pale orange-amber beer, yeast fully in suspension. Spiced, flowery nose, touch of preserved ginger, as well as just a hint of lavender; faintly citrussy, candi sugar. Quite spiced flavour: again ginger, rosemary, tarragon, coriander, but no spice clearly emerging but the ginger. Spritzy, titillating MF, slick, medium bodied. Too spiced for a tripel in my book, but quite nice as a strong spiced ale. Grand merci à Jean H.!

Aroma of hops, alcohol, and not much else. Pours foggy yellow-beige with minial head. Taste is yeast, malts, alcohol, syrup. Too sweet of a finish. Too excessive, in everything, to enjoy drinking.

Bottle from Cave à Bulles. Cloudy orange with a sizeable head. Complex fruity, lemony nose with spices in the background. In the mouth some orange zest as well as peppery flavours. Well-balanced. Interesting.

Unclear medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, nutty, light to moderate hoppy, orange, fruity, light yeasty. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100111]
