3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - SEP 17, 2012
UPDATED: DEC 7, 2012 2012-09-05, bottle from La Cave à Bulles, Paris; bb Mar 2014, 7-4-7-4-14=36 Hazy light amber color with medium sized head. Some aroma of caramel, malt, and some perfumy hops, a bit of fruitiness from them. Caramel and malt flavor, some biscuit, with light residual sweetness, on the edge of the American crystal malt beers, but better, with some fruits from the hop, and apparently much less than the disclaimed 120 IBUs. It has some of the profile characteristics of a Double IPA, but not the strength. Pleasant, but not as fresh as an IPA should be, not as bold as a true Double IPA (which is not).
2012-07-03, bottle at Hoppy Loft, Brussels, 7-5-7-4-14=37 Beautiful red-amber color; creamy head. Malt and cheese aroma. Some caramel flavor, the mouthfeel is quite round, but also kind of dry; it has strong bitterness, some piney resins and light cheese touch; there is a roasty note out of tune, and moderate sweetness later. Good.
