from Mondial de la Bière 2011, Strasbourg - dark brown beer with a poor head retention; aroma of cola, licorice and black cherries; full-bodied, thick and with a subtle carbonation; a strong sweetness is soon overwhelmed by a huge bitterness; quite dry and very long hoppy finish with more notes of licorice and black cherries; some warming alcohol notes too ... of course - a huge beer which manages to be drinkable despite the very high alcohol content

Small sample draft // Fleurac tasting @ Delirium Hoppy Loft // 50/50 blend of black & brown triple IPA, icebocked // (a) mahogany black with only tanned bubbles clinging to the side // (s) the nose on this is pretty damn great but har to describe, liquorish malts, fruity black liquorish drops, hints of liqueur, deep dark fruits, candy, caramel, touch medicinal // (t) sweet liquorish, malt mixed with quite a bit of spices, flavour is low upfront, coming into play in the medium long finish, in the back, sweet liquorish (enjoyable that is for sure) roasted malts, bitter cocoa, dark fruits, black liquorish, chocolate, malt, quite nice, small hits of old wood & playful alcoholic finish that works great, very lightly bitter // (b) body is quite oily // good, not bad at all but not amazing but a good try, desert treat // small sample probably works best, if price was lower, a bottle might be worth considering, not essential fare at the price, safe for a tick perhaps to split with reasonable amount of people

Clear dark dark brown colour with virtually no head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, moderate to light heavy hoppy, flowers, alcohol. Flavour is light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, alcohol - buzzy, alcohol warm, chocolate, licorice. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is falt, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. [20120414]

Odd. Almost black coloured. Has an off-white head, fully diminishing. Aroma of sweet alcohol, medicine, not pleasent. Flavor is heavy sweet and finish moderate bitter. Syrupy texture and soft carbonation.

Bottle. Unclear dark brown with no head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, alcohol. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, medium sweet, alcohol, burning, caramel, gritty, warming and medium bitter.

Bottle. Frothy white fair mostly deminishing head. DArk amber colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. MOderate bitter very vinius flavor. Long moderate bitter finish. Creamy palate. Quite nice.

Hazy dark reddish brown without head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, whisky, heavy alcohol and moderate hoppy. Flavor is very sweet and moderate bitter. Very sweet finish with burning alcohol. Oily. 140412

Bottle from Cave á Bulles. No head. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are licorice, whisky, tar, caramel, malt and alcohol. Sweet and alcoholic.

Bottle 33cl, a dark beer, syrupy without head. Nose is hopy on the resinous side and dry fruit. Aroma is spicy on licorice, lot of hops flavor such as honey, grass, coconut, grapefruit, bitterness, fresh hops notes like Columbus and Brewers Gold surely added on dry hoping. Long bitterness and fruit notes on the tongue on aftertaste. A good beer, not too sweet, not too lemony but not worth at all of the 24€ for a small bottle.
