Not Ybor Gold, but Florida Beer with a mustachioed man on a purple label. Dark cola colored brew with a slightly off-white head. Aromas of toasted grains and coffee. Tastes of burnt grains, bitter/dark coffee, and some smoky bitterness. Dry, chalky finish. Taste is solid, just a bit bitter. Good beer.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: FEB 1, 2013 Single bottle. Bottled as Florida Beer, no mention of Ybor Gold. Dark brown pour with a small, soapy khaki head. Aroma of coffee grounds and toffee. Taste is mostly coffee, a little cola, slightly bitter finish. Pretty by-the-numbers porter, typical Florida Beer - good enough but nothing special.

Draft at Land O Lakes WOB. Pours a medium dark reddish brown with a thin tan head. Roasted malt aroma with touches of chocolate and burnt sugar. Flavor has nice roasted chocolate and coffers notes with a good bit of bitterness in the finish.

Entering an old rating, 12 ounce bottle poured a dark brown color, aromas of light chocolate, light caramel, and a touch of earth. Flavors are the same, a little thin for a porter, but decent beer overall.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle, part of the 15 beer variety pack I picked up at Total Wine in Jacksonville. Beer is a dark brown with a light tan head. Aroma is a bit of cocoa and a touch of malt. Taste is identical to the aroma, with a bit of hops bite. Nice beer, but a bit rich to drink. Good for dessert.

This is the same beer as the beachside porter, I have had both....not bad at all. My detailed tasting notes are listed under the beachside porter.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a dark caramel brown color with a crimson tint. A compact, spongy tan head settles slowly, leaving nice ribbons of lacing behind. The aroma leans heavily towards the chocolaty side, resembling something like an old school malted milkshake. Caramel and mocha are detectable as well. Flavors continue this theme, with chocolate and caramel malts showing well. The coffee component, combined with a hint of earthy hops, lends some balance. Falling short on mouthfeel, it is well carbonated but a touch thin for the style. Overall, I found this to be a surprisingly nice, enjoyable, "summertime" porter.
