Dark as the midnight sea, this medium bodied porter combines flavors from 8 malts, including 4 distinct chocolate malts (Victory, Chocolate, Rye and Midnight Wheat) with fresh nugget and cascade hops that work together to form a harmonious balance of aroma and flavor. Imparting a dry roasted malt character, with subtle hints of cocoa, licorice and toffee, this brew possess a balanced hop spice and malty finish.

Typical deep brown pour and medium tan, fluffy head. Some chocolate and coffee notes, but my sample also had a slight sour/tart undertone in the finish that kept distracting me. A moderate hop bit in the finish as well...but that weird sour aftertaste again crept back in. It does noticably improve as it approaches room temperature, adding a smoky element and diminishing the sourness. What the hell, Iím giving it a couple more points.

Bottle. Pours dark almost black with a medium head. This beer definitely gets better when it warms up a bit. It develops aromas of chocolate that also dominate the flavor. In addition there is a component of malts and nuts. Mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side, but the beer is well drinkable.

Thanks to Degarth for this. A long lasting, creamy, light brown head tops this dark brown porter. The aroma is nutty with some toasted, bready notes as well. The flavor is dominated by sweet malt with very subtle coffee and chocolate. The body is light to medium and although this brew lacks some of the aspects of the better porters, this would go down extremely well in hot, humid Florida where the heavier flavored/bodied Porters may drag a bit. A decent drinker.

Decent head with a deep brown hue on the first glance. Holding it up to the light brings out a beautiful ruby-redness. And while the head eventually faded, the lace was still nice. Mouthfeel was surprisingly full and creamy, especially up front. Malts had a rich roastiness that merged well into a grassy hoppiness. Subtle hints of chocolate and coffee gave it a little depth. Perhaps a slight nip of smoke in the background, too. Well balanced, with a tame bitterness and only a pinch of caramel sweetness to speak of. Enjoyable porter.

Pours deep brown with half inch tan head. Aroma is malt, syrup, coffee. Coffee comes out in the taste with hops in the background. Aftertaste is good, but overall taste is a little watery. Not bad, but taste needs to be more concentrated.

Thanks to Degarth for sharing this one. Pousr a crimson color with a nice thick off whtie head. Lots of lacing. Aroma is the standard porter aroma, caramel, sweet on the nose. Flavor is sweet, not much flavor, a hint of brown sugar and caramel. And the smallest grassy hop kick. Overall nothing interesting here.

Bottle from Degarth. Pours brown with a rocky head. Smells nutty with some roasted elements. Tastes soapey with some mellow fruity notes. Strage metallic aftertaste I couldnít get away from and there were also some weird bubblegum and spicey notes present.

whoa, the commercial deScription is way off on this one. medium to full-bodied my eye! this was about as thin and watery as beer can possibly be. not much flavor either. IR must be the Huber of the southeast.

Pours dark brown with thin tan head. I was not expecting much from this brand but damn this was good, awesome coffee and espresso flavor, with chocolate and hops in there also. This surprised me it was really good.

Bottle-I like the Coke deScription, thatís just how it looks. The head was small and a light tan color. The flavor is mostly malt with a some chocolate highlights. Average porter, but above average beer.
