Florida Beer Company’s Sunshine State Pils is being brewed in the style of a Northern German Pils. These beers tend to have a higher more aggressive bitterness, slight mineral characteristic and very light body that can be described as clean, crisp and leaving a pleasant hop bitterness lingering on the palate. Between the use of German noble hops and our extra pale pils malt one can expected a light, approachable craft pilsner that is perfect for the Florida spring and summer seasons. ABV: 5.0% IBU: 42-45

Clearwater, Fl - Total Wines - 12 oz bottle. Slight haze to the light golden pour, beady white head that fades after a while. Slight lemony bent to the aroma, some grainy accents. Flavor has a bready profile, some wort-like accents, a touch of saffron spiciness. Decent crispness to the mouthfeel,

Pours clear straw colored with plentiful foamy white head. Aroma is very standard for the style with slightly tart doughy yeast esters. Flavor is somewhat unique with light banana notes dominating most of the flavor. The yeast flavors are still left on the palate however, once all is said and done.

A nice pilsner. Pretty bold for a light beer. Nice refreshing taste for those hot Florida days. Color me impressed.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Chapel Hill. Clear golden, large foamy white head, decent retention. Aroma of grassy hops, a bit of skunk, grainy malts and bit of doughiness. The taste is doughy malt, grassy hops. Thin bodied. There’s a shell of a good beer here.

Pours pale yellow. The aroma is fresh corn followed by a whiff of noble hops in the back. The flavor is lightly sweet malt with perfectly balanced bitterness. Not bad at all for the style.

Pours clear, bubbly straw yellow with a thick and rather persistent creamy white head that pillows. Crisp, malty aroma is quite strong and has a hoppy hint. Flavor is crisp and refreshing, not complex but one does not expect complexity from a pilsner. It sure takes the edge off a Georgia (or Florida) scorcher! Texture is thin and not very fizzy, but when the mouthfeel is a beer’s weakest feature, big fat hoppy deal. Come to the Florida pilsner tree!
