2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from Knightly Spirits, Kissimmee, Florida. This is a golden beer with a very strong citrus fruit and peppery hop flavour, slight sour and tea leaf notes with a warming alcoholic finish.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Smell of yeast, caramel. Amber colour, yellow-ish head. Aroma of alcohol, cognac, oak, mint. Finishes with apple, cough mixture, some nuts. Very little like IPA overall. Very oily texture, fizzy carbon. Sweet due to alcohol level, slightly sour, medium bitter.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright orange-caramel color with a huge creamy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sour, funky, tangy, earthy, piney, oddly vegetal and had a hint of tropical fruits. The flavor was very tangy and very sweet with notes of brown sugar, vegetal malts and tropical fruits. Long finish and full body. Odd.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle. Pours an amber color, with small off white head. Interesting aroma that resembles more of a barley wine than an IPA. Malty flavor with a bit of hoppiness. Definite warm alcohol notes. Not bad, but strange for an Imperial IPA, definitely not hoppy enough and more like a barley wine.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
I poured a 12oz bottle into a tulip glass. There was no freshness date. I got this as part of my #BBC13 haul.
Appearance: Orange proper hue, clear body with some CO2 visible. Forms an average size, ivory, frothy head which retains and laces well.
Smell: Surprisingly mild nose. Only hints of stone fruit and some alcohol.
Taste: There’s an indication of "DIPA" on the label to Florida Beer Swamp Ape, though I think it might be better classified as a blonde barleywine (if such a thing were to exist). Though big and strong, it’s not quite as bitter or hoppy as I expect in a double IPA. This is a thick, sticky, almost chewy beer with noticeable sweetness for the style. I appreciate its non-conformity.
Mild bitterness at the tip of tongue, followed by an almost nectar-like sensation of sweetness (and texture). Lots of pale maltiness and to the point that it’s remarkably sweet, but not cloying. There’s additional bitterness on the back end, but there’s no hop bite per se. Dryness balances out the malt character and there’s some alcohol warmth as well. Probably better classified as an American Strong Ale, but regardless it’s still a tasty, satisfying, well-balanced brew. I’ll take it.
Drinkability: Beers as big as Swamp Ape tend to be beastly. After all, this ale is 10% ABV, which is pretty hefty. Fortunately, there’s only minimal alcohol presence, which is quite impressive. The mouthfeel is soft, but with noticeable weight. It goes down extremely smooth and there’s only trace dryness in the aftertaste. A nice change of pace beer.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a nice copper with a big but quickly dissipating tan head. Love the logo, I almost want to up the appearance rating! Alcohol and floral hops are the aromas here. The tables turn with the flavors, here the malt really overwhelms with sweetness. As it warms up a grainy cereal flavor starts to show itself. Thick and syrupy mouthfeel that foams up in the mouth.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Klar guld färgad med ett ljus gult skum. Doft: Blommigt, honung, barr, skogsjord, lite unket på något sätt oxå. Smak: Barr, humle, te, gräs, övermogen mandarin och lite för tydlig alkohol smak.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Enjoyed while sitting outside at an isolated island restaurant in Florida. Maybe that is why I rank it as high as I did. Scent of grapes and raisins (I know, weird). Bold hop taste with with a bitter linger. At 10% it just might be an "ape"but on taste Alone mostly an orangutang or chimp but still tasty on a hot Florida afternoon.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle into snifter glass. Golden-amber color with off-white head. Aroma of herbal hops, some citrus to it, and sweet malt mostly. Taste seems to be mostly caramel malt sweetness backed with some citrus/piney hop flavor. Heavy body, low carbonation, sweet, boozy, soft with only a slight bitter finish. I thought maybe I bought a DIPA oldie but reading other reviews I’m not the only one who found this to be a unpleasant malt bomb. I guess thanks for my worst DIPA yet Florida Beer?
