3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 BBB63 (5423) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - JAN 31, 2013Bottle from Eric and served in my GI IPA Tulip: Pours a clean deep golden/amber hue with an good head and some lace. The aroma smacks your alpha up with raw, rough and aggressive bittering hops and provides light tropical and apricot jammy fruit notes. Moderately dank, resiny and must I saw SWAMPY :-). Very light vapours of cotton candy, crystal and 6-row malts. Some pepper and clove esters too. The taste is almost as sharp and aggressive as the nose, very biting bitterness with dank earthy notes and plenty of hop spice undertones. A tad unbalanced and after half the bottle got to be a tad boring. No real malt character, just a lot of unfermented sugars. The mouth feel is pretty heavy for the genre, and as mentioned above quite aggressive with a heavy metallic and minerally finish. Must saw I have no desire to ever visit this one again but it was cool to try it once.<more akin to a sub-average American Barleywine than a DIPA>

From a 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear pale amber with an off white head. Herbal nose. Flavors of grassy hops and plenty of sweet malt. Bitter finish.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 solidfunk (1919) - Ontario, CANADA - JUN 9, 2013
Not finding this nearly as bad as the ratings suggest, but then again I just got back from two weeks of Colombian beer. Pours pale yellow or orange with some lacing, no head. Aroma of pine and malt, some booze. Balance is decent as well, but overall this is light for style. Bitter finish. Tap at tap42. Hope I catch my connecting flight.
2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 rougeau13 (1646) - Texas, USA - MAY 23, 2013
Clear amber with an eggshell head and decent lacing. Very slight aroma of biscuit, caramel and citrus. The taste is horrible. I get tons of metal and an inappropriate catastrophe of spicy and malty flavors. Medium bodied. Drain pour.

355ml bottle from a publix in Kissimmee Florida. Deep golden, small white head. Drinks like a under hopped blonde barley wine. This would need quadruple the hopping to make it into IIPA territory. Fine as an ASA or American barley wine. FLVC2 #18

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of a lot of dough and bread and pale malts and some floral hops. Flavor the same. Average texture. It’s like a double IPA where they only doubled the malts, and forgot to alter the amount of hops.

This is a malt bomb to me. Not a lot of hop to support all of that caramel malt flavor. Good marketing. Could not resist swamp ape in the store.

Bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.; thanks burg326). Looks solid; a transparent orange with off-white head that dissipates into lacing fairly quickly. Smells and tastes caramel malt and booze with some hops in there too. A malt bomb of a DIPA.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jjgmd (762) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - APR 24, 2013
Pours an amber cooper color, on tap at Tampa Bay Brewing, Coral Springs , with a nice frothy head. Sweet citrusy aroma. Taste is bitter with the alcohol up front, subdued citrus and pine. Finished bitterly with very little sweetness.
Have had better DIPAs. Quaff Score 6 / 10
