3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Eric and served in my GI IPA Tulip: Pours a clean deep golden/amber hue with an good head and some lace. The aroma smacks your alpha up with raw, rough and aggressive bittering hops and provides light tropical and apricot jammy fruit notes. Moderately dank, resiny and must I saw SWAMPY :-). Very light vapours of cotton candy, crystal and 6-row malts. Some pepper and clove esters too. The taste is almost as sharp and aggressive as the nose, very biting bitterness with dank earthy notes and plenty of hop spice undertones. A tad unbalanced and after half the bottle got to be a tad boring. No real malt character, just a lot of unfermented sugars. The mouth feel is pretty heavy for the genre, and as mentioned above quite aggressive with a heavy metallic and minerally finish. Must saw I have no desire to ever visit this one again but it was cool to try it once.<more akin to a sub-average American Barleywine than a DIPA>

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a slightly hazy dark gold body with a small tight bubbled white head. The nose is minimally hoppy with a bit of butter and caramel malt. Not the hop bomb that I was expecting. The flavor is fairly bitter, but sweeter than what I want from a double iPA. A fairly noticeable alcohol heat. Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation and a fairly short finish. Not what I’m looking for in an DiPA, a little too sweet for my tastes. The alcohol is definitely in there though.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Cloudy gold/amber body with little head. Aroma intensely malty. Moderate to high hoppiness in the taste with plenty of bready malts. For a 10%er, it’s not that evident until you’re into your second one. Pretty good stuff.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle shared via BMMillsy who is my swamp god (Free Beer Week contest). Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head. The aroma and flavor have some booze, sticky citrus, pine resin, orange, pale malts, warming alcohol, a bit of off metallic character, it is 10% which gets a .1 bump, would like more bitterness and cohesiveness of flavors.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clear golden color with a thin white head. Aroma slightly piney hops and a little musky. Flavor is citrus hops with a slightly resinous finish. A little confused by the mix of citrus and pine notes combined on my palate. Overall, not bad though.

But hazy orange with a thin off white head. Kind of orange aroma, dull. Full bodied dry stale hop flavor. But if a lemony finish

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours hazy honey golden with a nice buff head. Aroma is not strong, but promises some hops. Boldly hoppy flavor has woody, resiny and grapefruit components. Texture has average viscosity but fizz to spare. Swamp Ape beer is useful and good!
