2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
330ml bottle bought at CitySuper in New Town Plaza, Shatin.
Clear amber brown colour with residual yeast sediments; Very thin head and residual white foam which fades in 20 seconds. Minimal lacing with some notable carbonation; Fragrant and sweet aroma of milk chocolate, cherry, cream soda, waffles and bubblegum; Pretty nice sweet taste of cherry juice, cream soda, honey, sparkling wine, bubblegum, light milk chocolate, very light liquorices and citrus; Light body, thin but quite slick palate; Taste profile is pretty much a cherry-flavoured cream soda with bubblegums and light milk chocolate. Its taste is pretty much in line with Floris’ heavily carbonated fruit beers. Slightly artificial but the winey taste is a nice touch. Not as bad as I feared; Hop bitterness is hint of citrus nose, light citrus and bitter taste. Finishing is moderate milk chocolate sweetness with thin bitterness. Okay really; Wet after taste, very easy to mouth.
Comments: It tastes more like a cherry chocolaty cream soda, yet somehow its aroma and poppy taste is quite arousing. I treat this one as a light-hearted dessert than a serious mocha beer, and in this role, it suits quite well. A neat Christmas gifts for my friends this year!

2.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle at home in London with Chris and Lyoli. Pours clearish copper with a thick, creamy khaki head. Nice chocolate and cherry aroma. It actually smells really nice, like a rich chocolate cake topped with cherries or strawberries. Medium to big sweet flavor, plenty of chocolate-covered fruits like strawberries and cherries, some strong artificial flavors, hints of bubblegum. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Sugary finish, further artificial flavors. It comes close to working at times, but in the end it is just far too artificial and a touch sickly sweet.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
This beer is palatable, but thats about all I can say about it. The chocolate is certainly there. It is the dominant characteristic in this witbier. A bit more subtlety may have done this beer some good.

Chocolade met wat sinaasappel snippers. Waterig met een bittere nasmaak. Leuk om te geven, minder om te drinken.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
33 cl. bottle sampled @ Bier Central. Psyched to try this because this is supposed to be the very worst that Belgium has to offer beer-wise. Pours brownish amber with an off-white head. It was described as tasting & smelling like cheap Ukrainian Chocolate Bubblegum from the 1990’s which I can believe for the “chocolate” flavour on this one does remind me of some Ukranian chocolate I once had. Smell is chemical chocolate, gross, chocolate syrup, chocolate additives, fake, very cheap, old chocolate with the white stuff on it, cheap liquor it is both interesting & appalling at the same time. Taste follows same suit, cheap chocolate bubblegum blended with cheap chocolate, old, alcohol, chemical, chocolate additives, booze, syrup,… Its mesmerizing. Artificial syrupy feel. It is like ST Choklat gone horribly wrong. It is quite fascinating & hard to rate on a beer scale. I can imagine this getting huge in quite a few places in the world. People are used to far too high quality chocolate in too many places :)

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2013 20/I/13 - 33cl bottle @ home - BB: I/2013 (yes, I "had" to drink it, before it went bad) (2013-85) Thanks to Marc for the bottle! Thanks because now I can tick it without actually having to buy it. :-)
Clear amber beer, irregular white head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very sugary, forest fruit candy, bubble gum, lemonade, grenadine syrup, hint of pralinée, alcohol, ersatz chocolate (koetjesreep!), sweet liquor. Despite the complexity of the aroma it smells very bad. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: cough syrup or some other medicine from my youth, candied orange peel, sugary, very sweet, alcohol, can’t say I taste any chocolate though... Aftertaste: alcohol, sugar, cough syrup, pretty bad. Man, I’m so happy I finally got to try this one! :p

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle at Delirium Cafe (Brussels, Belgium)
Aroma: Chocolate syrup and brown sugar.
Appearance: Dark brown with a white head.
Taste: Very sweet. Not much else.
Palate: Light bodied, thin texture, soft carbonation.
Curiosity got the better of me, and I wanted to try this one. Not terrible. Clearly it’s hated for its artificial flavor, but I wonder why artificial flavoring in other beers such as the Southern Tier Pumking can be more easily ignored.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Amber with a tan, lasting, thin, non lacy head. Smells of strong chocolate and some caramel some biscuit but mostly coco. Thin light body with lively carbonation. Ever try Nesquick or Wheetos? It tastes like milk chocolate but in the candy cereal sort of way. No bitterness just sweet. There is some fruit as well, raisin, cherry and nut but all of it seems artificial and candyesque. I can see how it would upset most beer drinkers but I liked it.
