Gift from SJ. First off people it is a beer that falls intot he category of spice / herb / vegetable. With that said, that is my least favorite category, but I try to rate with an open mind based on style. FFS, I didn’t like it. Definite notes of chocolate and fruit, tje blend is off. There was some hint of wheat or straw. Needs work guys.

Murky hazy brown, thin beige head. Aroma of spent grain, chocolate. Taste is like a tootsie roll, too much chocolate for me.

Very one dimensionally sweet and chocolately. Still it’s quite drinkable. Not bad.

Cloudy brown with a burgundy streak; quickly disappearing lively foam. A nose of chocolate and strangely enough cherries with a touch of alcohol. Doesn’t smell like a beer at all, though in itself it’s a nice aroma. Really reminds me of a black forest cake... The taste reflects the same fruity (cherries) and chocolate elements, with the chocolate not being overly sweet yet not bitter fondant either. The mouthfeel is that of a beer. Not much carbonation. In the aftertaste it’s those cherries again, though soft; just the slightest bit of cocoa remaining; overall a very soft (weak) aftertaste. Can’t decide whether this would make a nice dessert or whether it’s just plain strange.

Not nice at all. VERY poorly brewed. Yazoo mixed with Carling can would be a better tasting beer.

Floris Belgian beer a bad name and this has to be the worst (best?) case in point yet. If you buy yourself the cheapest no-brand wheat beer from yoru local supermarket and pour in a children’s chocolate milk mix (Cecemel or real cocoa milk would be too good to compare), then you’d still have a more drinkable beer mix (yes, this is no beer, but a beer mix) than this vile concoction. Shame on you Huyghe - if it weren’t for Delirium and Guillotine, your "Red" and the Floris range would cost me my Belgian beer credibility in Germany for even having bought and tried this!

This review was carried out in the ’Troll Keller’ Gent, Belgium: Jan 2009. The 33cl bottle was poured into a fluted vase and it wouldn’t quiet fit in. The bar was dark but the beer appeared a deep amber, an off-white head sat on top. It smelt like a chocolate orange. The taste was of milk chocolate and raspberries, which I found a bit strange at first. Fairly high carbonisation, but it couldn’t be called ’fizzy’. The aftertaste was dry, an interesting beer and a pleasant aside from the heavier beers that followed.

Bottle @ a friends place. Gift from me for his birthday. He doesn’t like me anymore... Slightly hazy dark orange / brownish color, no head. Smell is indescribable: some weird chocolat-pudding and just awful. Taste is the same. I have no words for this.

330ml Bottle (Delirium Cafe, Brussels) - Hazy copper/brown with a foamy head. Chocolate and malt in the aroma. Sweet, chocolatey, nutty and slightly roasted taste. Not too serious, but I have tasted much worse.
