Vertical Bacon Strips (1699) - Asshat, - JUN 18, 2009
Odd looking cloudy red going brown (more red) with a small pink head that goes to a ring but leaves 360 degrees of excellent lacing. The aroma is very strong with the sweet cherry (sort of has a slight medicinal quality to it to go along with my very first impression - which was of cherry Halls lozengers) which is defenetly not a real cherry flavour. There is a dryness and a honey flavour that is reminding me of some meads that I’d had to go along with the scent of almonds. Irregardless I’m sure enjoying the smell. The taste is not as large as the aroma but is still very appealling even if quite sweet. The cherry seems a bit more ’real’ now and stays tart and sour with obvious almond qualities. Very tasty. There is another flavour here but I’m baffled at what it might be...next time hopefully. Light medium bodied, a bit spritzy but still smooth...very mouth smacking..finishes with a lengthy soft cherry aftertaste. Better than the more locally known Belle-Vue Kriek. had to add this.... so, I just finished the Kriek and then I chased it with half a bottle of Sleemans Honey Brown....made it taste like bitter stale dope..so dead on...this might be the worst match up of beers in history.

Bottle. Pours hazy deep red with a short pink fluff. Smells of confectionary cherries with a little malt (not much). In the mouth, the malt comes out a bit more and ensures the cherries don't completely obliterate the mouth with bitterness. Like drinking sweets. Leaves nothing behind, just does its thing then leaves.

On tap at Delirium Hoppy Loft, Brussels, March 2012. Light red with a pinkish head. Very sweet aroma and taste of cherries, some wood and almonds. Not much sourness in this one.

Not for me this one. Overwhelming sweet with nothing else of redeeming value for me. Cream soda with some very light alcohol.

On tap at Snaps Galéria, Budapest. Nice clear cherry colored beer with pink head. Sweet tuttifrutti aroma, a bit sickening. Sweet taste, but a bit sour too. The nature of the beer is displayed here. Medium body with lively carbonation and slick texture. I don’t like this beer too much. It’s not like lambic fruit beer, rather a too sweet syrup. Not as fruity as I expected, even artificial.

Sweet and tart... reminds me a little bit of cherry cough syrup. Medium bodied. Dark red with a short, foamy head. For some reason I was amazed by this beer the first time I had it... now, it just seems "pretty good".

draft@Delirium: bright, softdrink or alcopop red with a pink head, smell & taste is pure cherry lollipops, taste also cherry grenadine & cherry syrup, candy sweet, luckily no taste of artificial sweetener here, according to the bartender this is Floris White mixed with grenadine, which is certainly believable & pretty much what it tastes like, very popular which is either very surprising or unsurprising, still can’t make up my mind which one it is

Bottle. Ruby color, off white head. Aroma of fruit and lemon peel. Taste is an interesting sweet sour combo. OK.
