Sample pour at the green lady... Pours a deep murky opaque mahogany hue and topped with a fluffy tan head... Aroma of green apple barrel notes followed up by molasses, dark fruit, and toffee. Roast missing from the aroma ... Flavors of bitter roast upfront, semi-sweet with darker toffee accentuations. More growing bitterness on the finish. Lighter than expected body with fluffy carbonation. Faint plum and dark fruit comes through more after warming. Sour mash barrel notes combine with the aforemntioned. More bitterness than expected but pretty good.

Draft. It has a boozy kick to it. Bourbon and cocoa, bit of rye, lots of roasted malts. Nice but boozy blend.

Lucked out that this one was on tap when I visited the brewery. Sludgy, chewy pour, with a modest beige carbonation that gets swallowed by the ink. Loads of heavy malts, booze, and vanilla in the nose, along with a slight tartness and an even more moderate dollop of spice, like two faintly perceived beacons. Sticky, dark, and sweet but quite good for a blend and excellent in small doses.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a near clear dark brown with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of bourbon and vanilla with backing dark grains and alcohol. Flavor is sweet with vanilla caramel and bourbon. A bit of dark grain and chocolate underlying.

Draught at Flossmoor Station - brewpub. Pitch black - small light brown head. Nice wooden, vanilla, sweetness, high malty, oiley, high vanilla, dark fruits, bourbon, licorice, light anis notes, rather sweet, thick and stickey.

Poured in a snifter at the pub. Jet black with minimal head that lasts. Aroma is anise, barley, and molasses. Taste is alcoholic. Licorice, bourbon, dark fruit, and toasted malt are strong. Mild hop bitterness. Full mouthfeel. Nice barrel aged beer.
